Advice on Facebook Scrapers?

What's the policy on using scrapers on Facebook these days for getting user ID's from fan pages or groups?

Allowed?

Or playing with fire?

Playing with fire. It's already against Facebook TOS.

Thought that might be the case, wolfmmiii

Any other good methods you know of to hyper targeting cold traffic on there that will produce productive clicks?

I actually do consulting for local businesses in my area (my knowledge spread through word of mouth). What I tell local businesses to do is build a Fan page and run an ongoing "like" campaign. A budget of just $5 can yield as many as 10k targeted fans within 6 months when targeted properly.

With a following of 10,000 fans who actually took the time to like your page, you have a solid base of targeted followers whom you can market to.

Facebook sometimes get a bad rap but, man, I swear by it. As a matter of fact, I run a local soccer site that has just 1500+ fans. The website sees upwards of 1000 visitors per day during the season and almost all of that traffic comes from Facebook fans and their friends.

I'll give a like campaign a shot wolfmmiii

When you say $5, you mean $5 a day?

Ideally, I would like to convert all the fans to mail list subscribers so I have that portability at the end of the day.

Yeah, $5/day is often plenty to build a large following if targeted right. I've run campaigns that have gotten me real likes from North America for as low as $0.07 per like.

Build the fan base up, establish a relationship with your fans, and then collect their email addresses. It works every time. It's actually a fairly simple formula for success.

    Don't use them.

If you use facebook ads, you're effectively targeting specific audiences.

missmystery, that's what I've been doing. Been "hit or miss" but profitable. I'm just targeting to specific interests. But with that said, any other option selections you find successful like buying habits, etc that you have seen legitimately work?

I use my fanpage to drive traffic to my website. Once people are on my website, I offer them different products in exchange for the subscription - depending on the niche.

On my pet sites, I offer newsletters or coupons that I'm aware of for different retailers. On my hyperlocals, I offer thigns that the local community would be interested in.
