I am curious how do marketers usually promote their social media content right at the START, particularly facebook and instagram.

-Do you promote your page only after a number of posts?
-How many posts will be a good start?
-How do you get likes to an empty page/a page with only a few posts? (no social proof)
-Do you have to space out your posts even when there's no followers?
-etc

I've seen social media advices on providing value, engaging content, doing audience research, mix of pictures, blog posts etc, but I hardly see advice for a BRAND NEW PAGE with zero likes.

Any advice for a brand new page will be appreciated. Cheers.

Brand new page won't get much reach at the beginning, so don't focus too much on the number of post. But you know it would be useless effort if we bring people to the blank page, we need some content there prepared from them.

Actually some of my clients are afraid to waste their resources (post/image) to the page that still don't have much like, but they forget that you can curate other people articles as well.

    1. I don't think we have a specific number of post, but i think 5-6 would be enough for new visitors
    2. ^
    3. Getting like is not that easy if you want organic, if you already have great social media presence you may start in your network by inviting friends to your page. Or to be more advanced there are many ways such as group posting, promote through other pages and very effective Facebook ads.
    4. No follower or not you should keep posting regularly or else you won't get any.

I specialize in launching new brands so I deal with this often. When I stand up a new facebook page, I generally flesh it out with 5-10 pieces of content before doing anything. Timing of the posts is irrelevant at this point so I usually post them all on the same day.

Once I have some content on the page, I launch a facebook like campaign with a budget of $5/day. After the first week, I geneally have severe hundred fans. From there, I start posting content regularly and interacting with the fan base.

Done properly, your reach can be far higher than what you often see reported on this forum.

Facebook "like" campaigns. Depending on niche/audience, I can often get 100% US fans for under $0.10 each.

If you have marketing budget - so go ahead and order some ads. If you do not have budget that is better to get your page promoted within your friends and work on the quality of publications. If your page is interesting - soon you will see how fast you are growing.

If I’m going to be starting out my Facebook fan page with 0 likes and 0 followers, I would first focus on building up content.

You have to understand that at this point in time, you are stuck in a chicken or egg dilemma.

People won’t follow or like your fan page if there’s nothing to follow or like.

    I hope this is obvious.

So it’s really important to share content first.

The good news is that it doesn’t even have to be content created by you.

At this stage of the game, you’re simply building up credibility.

So your focus shouldn’t be on whether you can suck traffic off your post.

Instead, focus on whether the materials you’re sharing is of the highest quality possible.

In other words, it really highlights the best of read content in your niche.

This is what will get attention.

This is what will build loyalty over time.

So, focus on building posts, building up your post count.

Focus on creating a very professional cover for your Instagram or Facebook account.

The good news is you can get a professional cover by simply going to Fiverr.

Focus on putting together a really solid strategy for your Facebook page.

Focus on a clear, well-defined persona.

Focus on developing a brand personality.

Take this time to really get it right.

You have to remember that social media is very competitive.

There are a lot of other players out there trying to do what you’re doing.

A lot of them are better at it.

So, this is the time to look at what they’re doing, reverse engineer what works, and forget about what doesn’t work.

If you play your cards right, you start the game with a serious competitive advantage.
