Improve organic Facebook reach for contests

I post many contests on my web site - some I run myself, some operated by others.

Posting these contests on Facebook used to create huge amounts of traffic, but in the past months the organic reach has gone down. The decrease is much bigger than the drop for other content.

Any suggestions on how to improve organic Facebook reach for contest posts?

Maybe the activity is low because of the season of holidays? I think a lot of people now out of their computers. Better to wait some time and then check if that changes.

Facebook (about half of year ago) cut the reach of fan pages significantly... I am afraid you'll never come again to old interaction... Try to combine it with other social media. Instagram is a killer these days!

IMO, facebook is simply a matter of wasting time for people, while social site like Insta is geining massive interaction, because it's easier for people to interact...?

agreed but then only a special sort of niche will always perform well on Insta or any other network. Every niche wont perform that great across the networks.

Without knowing fully details of your facebook contest, we should not judge it.

May be your content idea was not a proper.
May be your targeted audience was wrong.
like this there are n number of factors are there to see.

    • Word your post every carefully. I manage a number of branded Facebook accounts for clients and we see far higher reach when we remove words such as "win", "competition" and "freebie". I think Facebook is restricting reach on posts containing these words in the hope that if a business or brand has a competition it is serious about it will pay (via boost post) to promote it.

  • Make it popular by buying facebook contest votes etc.

You must give people a variety of contests, you know something new, interesting and something they will look forward too. On the other hand, I don't think doing it very often will help, you must give a little time, a little anticipation or excitement, like what I've said make leave them something to look forward to. A poll will do, ask them what do they want next, something like that. Make them participate and give them what they want.

Yes now a days facebook is intentionally lowering the reach of contest to encourage people to pay for boost. In order to increase the reach you have to share more and invite people to take part into your contest. And if you don't like hard work, simple pay facebook.

Thats because FB changed their algo so you hardly can reach. If you are lucky the reach will be 5-10% of your total fans. The reach will be more if the engagement is more. Thats how the new algo works

I would try different social media sites, until you find the right fit for your niche, and target audience, don't limit your self.
