Using Facebook Video to Grow "Likes" on Fanpage...Thoughts?

I know the "Like" ad campaign is the preferred method of growing an audience on Facebook and has anyone ever used video to build their audience/likes on Facebook?

I am working with some entertainers who want to build up their following on Facebook and doing a standard "Like this page if you love R&B music" doesn't seem like the best way to go, especially since the artists are still relatively unknown.

I was looking at possibly doing video to "introduce" the artists to potential fans and then encourage them to "like" the artist's fan page. I've seen this work great organically, but usually, the video is shared from a fan page with a wider audience.

On the flip side, I know by using video instead of a straight "like" campaign, I leave myself open for the Facebook user to just "like" the post, comment or share - all of which I will be charged.

Has anyone else ever done something similar to this? I read a couple of articles about some people using promoted posts to gain fans who first get the chance to interact with them, as opposed to just a "like" campaign where no engagement is necessary.

Thoughts?

If you advert to group of people who like specyfic type of music, but they do not know particular artist maybe solution would be to create a highligh video of this artist ?

You can get anyways better results becouse of smaller competition thru video advertising on facebook Ask them to like page if they want more of it ;p

I started to with good results but got lazy and starting doing non-video posts as they were easier to do and quicker. But what I found out is that Facebook distributes video to a higher number of my fans than for non-video posts (other than perhaps very viral posts). Alternatively, more people open up videos that show on their news feed. I can see this when I look at how many views my video posts get compared to non-video posts.

    Hope this helps.

      Thank you TrafficFlow!

Question - did you use video to increase your "likes" or did you just use to communicate with your current Facebook fan base?
