Hi All,

I'm taking the leap into FB paid advertising. My goal is lead generation for my site but I will welcome likes since my fan page is brand new.

Details: I run a resume site that offers industry specific resume & cover letter templates, a resume writing service, a resume templates bundle and I have adsense on the site as well. My landing page is a freebie page with four professional resume templates downloadable in MS Word. I have an attention grabber that links to the resume templates bundle sales page. The site also has career related articles.

As I am new to this, I'd like your feedback on the following:

1. CPC or CPM?
2. Ad placement: desktop newsfeed, mobile newsfeed or right column?
3. Timing of ads: Mon - Fri 12-2PM & 6-8PM?
4. Gender: male & females
5. Ages: 18-24, 25-34 & 35-44?

Please provide your feedback and let me know if there is anything else I need to factor into the campaign or if you have other suggestions.

Thanks in advance for your help!

I'm testing this out with $10 day for seven days. I'm still stuck on optimizing for Clicks to Website, Clicks, Daily Unique Reach or Impressions & setting the pricing bid amount.

1- You should start with CPC and clicks to website with your pixel to test the waters, find out which interests and ads are getting clicks after running for a couple of days and then move to website conversions with oCPM since now you have gathered some data and have conversions on your pixel

2- All of them, divided in different ad sets or campaigns, BUT start with either sidebar or newsfeed, then move into getting all three together once you have discovered your best creatives and audience OR if you have the budget, you can with the three of them in separated ad sets

3- Doesn't matter, you don't have any data to run day-partying. And all your ads should start at 7 AM FB time

4 and 5- If you don't know your audience and demographics, then you shouldn't be worried about the other 3 questions. Find first who your audience is, then who to target, what they want/need and then worry about the other stuff

Now... If you are asking about dividing the age in groups, then yes, go 18-24 M in one ad set, 18-24 W in another ad set, etc.

Then prune what's bleeding money and not getting conversions.

Always bid according to your end goal, is your end goal getting people to your site? Then bid for website clicks. Is your end goal getting conversions? Then bid for conversions, however, at the end of the day, it all comes down to split testing... Sometimes bidding for ''clicks'' alone can get you better results.
