It seems like Youtube versus Vimeo is like Google versus Bing. Perhaps Vimeo is even less significant than Bing when it comes to market share.

Anyone focusing on both youtube and vimeo to promote their website and/or product?

Any recommendations on where I can hire people to make good youtube and vimeo videos including voiceover rather than background music (SEO advice from the videomaker would also be great)?

I can help you on this.

    Now about youtube vs. vimeo.
Depends on what kind audience you want to target, but I'd recommend to take more benefits for your business with youtube. It's 2nd ranked search engine in the world BTW. And Google is behind it like a mother taking care her child exclusively.
The fact that vimeo is often blocked in some countries (like in my country - I have to use VPN to watch vimeo) may make you to consider it as well.

    Thanks.

You can't use Vimeo for commercial content anyway so I'd just stick with YouTube.

I think you can use Vimeo for commercial content if you have a paid account. If you're looking to monetize your content. I would go with youtube.

Only with Vimeo Pro, which is a separate service. Vimeo Pro videos don't show up publicly on Vimeo.com, so it's useless for obtaining traffic.

I stick to YouTube because Vimeo is not even 1% close to YouTube.
I use Fiverr to create videos with voiceovers. You can find quite a few talented and cheap guys there.

I would say Youtube cause youtube gets more traction that vimeo. Moreover you vimeo is not commercial oriented like Youtube does. You can grow your business exponentially using Youtube compared to vimeo.

    Hope that helps

There is no point of comparison between YouTube and Vimeo - It's like comparing a Land Cruiser with a 1985 Corolla.

It still might be worth it if you cannot get ranked on first few pages of google search results with your youtube video (since they only show a 1-3 videos per search page it seems), but you rank on the first page with Vimeo right away. That was my main intention for asking this question.

In my opinion there are three top video uploaders you should be considering...plus a "mystery" fourth I just discovered...

        1. You Tube - the biggest and best with the most functionality plus Google LOVES rewarding their own products.

        2. Vimeo - a solid second choice with a lot of customability and will rank in Google well.

        3. Daily Motion - It's good but has annoying 30 second ads that are pretty much mandatory to watch before you actually get to the content.

        4. IBO Tube - a new one that I 'just' discovered and know next to nothing about lol.

Every thing is on youtube, so people just believe it's saturated. It is not saturated and never will be. It's the place to be if you we ant to reach more people especially if you're deciding between Vimeo and youtube.

Yes, I’d agree that there is no way you can compare YouTube to Vimeo. Vimeo is not even close.
I use YouTube and only YouTube for video publishing.

Face book is moving on up. Maybe, you should consider them for your new movie. Yeah, I use to use vimeo. That was many years ago. Sadly, they did not keep up. For example, you tube has 4K movies now. Also, we see more exposure. Basically, we got a lot of flack from vimeo. Like they would take down videos and never did make life easy for us. Result is that they failed to gain traction and are a never was. Oh yes, they are not a has been - never were. Please add that they frown on people making money. What we have now is a complete trifecta for failure, the opposite of success.

Youtube works great. I typically only see Vimeo videos when people want to give a brief demonstration or instruction on how something on their website works. For money and traffic directly from either site..... I would go with Youtube.

If you want to make a promotion or implant your video then stick with Youtube.
But I'd recommend you to post your video on both websites

ahhhhh a difficult question but answer is the same as of others that Youtube has no comparison with vimeo.... because the user of youtube is too much its the site that is used worldwide and on the mouth and hands of people... people get the solution on youtube.. if we open some site and there is a video link when we click it it directly takes us to the youtube rather than the vimeo.. that is because the utube is easy to use by the client and people post their videos there because its the most viewed site on the earth and may be on the MARS or PLUTO ...... and the other thing is that it runs on low speed internet also without any problem and runs smoothly but vimeo needs hhigh speed internet to run......
