How Large Does A Facebook Custom Audience Need to Be?

I started running an ad campaign on Facebook for an affiliate product. I've gotten 2.5% CTR and CPC of $0.17, which seems decent.

I pixeled the link so that I could retarget the people who clicked over to it. I've had about 50 clicks so far.

I created a retargeting ad to reach that custom audience. However, the ad is not being shown because the audience is "too small." I had read that as long as you had over 20 in the audience, the ad would run.

What's your experience with this?

I have had the same experience before. I think the facebook runs back-end process that are focused on making sure that the ads that are being made should always yield fruits. Facebook is going places and will therefore be careful on everything they do baring in mind that they have the billions of users all over the world. They do not want at any time be able to take their potential audience for ignorance. Coming to your issues, kindly increase the audience and try placing the ad so that you can no whether it is running or not. Having a wider audience will not only make the ad run but also be able to affect your entire earnings in a positive way. Do not tire for after hard work, you will have fruits to enjoy. Cheers.

it is not necessary to have viewer, advertising is till displayed. However, the amount of audience will help increase the the effect of your campaign. That lead to higher CTR rate, the cost for one CPC is decreased.

Yes for retargeting you need a much bigger audience of course. Keep bulding it up and eventually it will be big enough for retargeting.
