Doesn't anybody use desktops anymore?

I notice in my Facebook ads that close to 90% of the traffic is from
the mobile platforms. I was wondering if this is quite typical for
other advertisers?

Facebook now makes 78 percent of its ad revenue on mobile.

Facebook reported $3.4 billion in mobile advertising revenue, while total advertising (desktop included) came to $4.3 billion.

    The situation is changing quickly

Makes me wonder though, how many people make purchases on their mobile after clocking a facebook ad?

I would think it would be the minority - no?

Alot of people are realizing it and creating mobile apps, I'm scared that PHP and other web programming languages will become history, used only to call API

Pretty much FB is going that route, since the beginning of the
year I've noticed that on my ads.

Try splitting your ad sets, one for mobile and one for desktop if
you want them to get evenly displayed.

That is very true because a bigger population is now using their mobile phones to go through the internet and check on ads. But i dont think many people make purchases using their phones, after seeing a product they like, mostly they will now use their pc or laptops to make the purchase. The phone is just a media used to get to them. Thank you

I use a desktop and know lots of others who do as well. However, even my dad has a desktop and a laptop, as have a few of my friends.

When I launch a campaign and include both desktop and mobile I always see the same picture 90/10% 80/20% Mobile/Desktop. But for me desktop usually converts better, so what I generally do: I create separate campaigns for desktop and mobile.

What I ask around fellow WR.

A lot does mention is better to set your site also mobile friendly.

irony I do know when people want to click an ad ..to check out or buy things

they rather view it via desktop than on mobile.

Not surprised FB - ads and all - would be mostly mobile. Are sales also from mobile - do you know?

I've noted we click on ads on mobile - but in my family when someone is redy to buy they head for a desktop or laptop.

          Thanks Kay...and Ray.

My experience at present is related to two primary businesses that I operate.

One is mostly offline retail/wholesale and the other is 100% online and about 80% wholesale 20% retail.

          I'm predominantly Australian based.

In my experience right now mobile is 99% research traffic but that doesn't mean they are not buyers now should you not have responsive sites or mobile re-directs.

I'm sure the purchasing via mobile will increase but for now the research is done in my situation about 50/50 mobile/desktop.

Purchasing numbers are another story however with most being desktop.

Biggest corporate spenders are desktop based and although the user may have researched on a mobile device the purchase has occurred at work on a desktop...or the private individual has researched and walked in.

As the payment processors merge and the sellers realise if could be good to sell direct to consumer...be it B2B or B2C...doesn't matter....

....that usability switch will just go on one day and desktop will recede.

Position yourself now for when it becomes more mobile based...because it is coming...and fast.
