I keep losing money buying Facebook ads. Is there a good course on this?

Everytime I've advertised with Facebook ads I've lost money. I know Im doing it wrong. I know I'm supposed to niche down to a target audience, and I do, but I guess Im not targeting enough.
I just ran an ad for Drones, I targeted men 25-50 with an interest in drones, and I made nothing lol.

Is there a course or any tutorial, youtube video etc on how to advertise with Facebook? Cuz Im missing something here, thanks

You'd do a better job if you just looked for fan pages about drones and used that demo profile to target.

What do you do with the traffic when they click the lead?

Buying psychology in Facebook is quite different from Google or Bing--where the prospect is actively thinking about whatever you offer, since they typed it in.

FB funnels are typically too short: ad to sales page. Not enough time to make the mental shift.

Try a longer funnel with more stages instead.

The first thing NOT to MISS about Facebook is how people use it. Oh, let me go check my FB acct so I can buy a DRONE? Really!?

It has been said over and over again that the best method for FB marketing is to get traffic to your very informative resource (best results are to your FB page/group). If they're truly interested (targeted) they will then sign up to your list via some free related and very targeted offer.

Then you email them featuring solid buying information and links to your purchase offers.

That being said, I believe FB is not good for every offer on the planet unless you have a well developed and followed super-targeted group/page. I would focus on micro-targeted blogs and viral video venues.

Many people are just throwing their money away at FB.

This is for testing to see if people buy. Do you make FB groups just for testing?
I guess that the way to do it then, thanks

You can't be testing if people buy...you are testing if your ad creates sales. I see all the time that people buy drones - the product does sell.

But if you test using what has already been proven not to work, then that is not a test - it is proof to why you will not achieve success in affiliate marketing.

This niche already seems to be out of your area of knowledge and passion - so that will be your greatest weakness. Being in this market would have exposed you to at minimum, a few FB pages/groups where your kind rant and rave about one model or another. It would have given you some community where those with similar passions congregate and share. This is part of the wisdom in choosing niches that you are passionate about.

I also see that people are trying to bite off more than they can chew with niche choices. What did you learn from marketing RC airplanes? Have you marketed any RC devices? You want to market the big daddy but you don't have experience in marketing a baby stroller.

The WF is no shortcut to an IM education degree. Start the right way and you'll never go hungry again.

I go into great detail regarding targeting in my Teespring courses.

Straight off the bat I can tell you your targeting is far too broad.

You should be targeting interests such as:

Drone Brands (only passionate followers would like/follow)
Drone related webpages (if they are indeed targetable)

And also doing more research in audience insights focusing on affinity of related groups.

Participate in online forums, pick up on the lingo/slang used, find out as much as you can and where the hardcore people hangout.

Then and only then should you even consider putting an audience together.

FB ad is like more benefit to let your website to get know to more people on auto pilot to target audiences.

But I have do a survey asking around those non IM surfer ..while they surf FB for products etc

they don't always click on those FB ads....unless the product indeed is what they are searching

so back to point again is finding the target audiences. ( but again is not 100 percent they will click on those ads related to their interest irony )

        Hi,
Yes, one of the most comprehensive guides you will find on the subject. And no shady push button software either!

Maybe consider the fact that persons have an add blocker on so they would not see the ads now

Instead of trying to drive traffic to an affiliate link, build a business around a niche that is both profitable and interesting to you. You could quite easily build an authoritative website regarding drones and monetize it with both affiliate offers and your own products.

Rather than spending your money on Facebook ads, you could earn an income from the free organic traffic your website generates and then use some of that income to purchase ads, which you can test until you multiply your income further.

Stop using facebook. social media for direct marketing is dead and doesn't work for the majority of businesses trying to achieve direct sales. Focus on content marketing with the approach to solve the consumers problem with your product. Offer something for free in exchange for their willing participation IE name and email. then run an email campaign. This is far less expensive. Besides facebook has been messing with businesses by censoring post IE pay to play. Ask your self do you want a following or do you want people to buy your stuff.

Completely and.utterly disagree. FB, Twitter and Insta are absolute beasts right now, and with FB recently rolling out intersection to most known advertisers, it's never been better.

According to my experience and supporting statistics which I have a lot of it hasn't worked well. Not saying it can't be a useful tool for brand awareness but I haven't seen a lot of major returns from facebook.

Thanks. I dont trust Udemy. ALL courses get 5 star reviews from fake reviews. The course can be terrible and it will get 300 fake reviews saying how amazing it is.

FB ads are indeed tricky, but the general rule is that you can't go for
the direct sale. Also you need to offer an easily digestible incentive
to join your list. At the same time, each "failure" is a lesson on what
    NOT to do next time.

I think this is accurate. I have seen contest before and probably the most effective way to get people to join some kind of list. If the goal is to get them to join an email list then you have better chances But I think there are better less expensive and time consuming methods for doing this. If you haven't noticed already I have some bias against most popular social media sites when it comes to marketing. But I will say this if facebook or any social media platform is used correctly with proper expectations for what it will do for a business then you have a good chance that you can get positive results. But as the OP mentioned Direct sales are not the way to go.

there is a lot of success in failing. Each day you learn more and you might even write a book so dont give up. FB should only create a path for people to get into your website,. Personally, I dont log into FB to buy staff, I log in to socialize and read news. But in case I find a nice link that interest me, click on it to the main website, by this I get to know about the products offered. Therefore use FB just as a tool to attract people into your site.Be sure that whoever clicks on the link to your website is a potential customer. post also educative staff about your products. thank you

What site are you leading people to when they click on your ad? The problem may not be with the ad, it could be with everything that happens AFTER they click on your ad.

This is quite a lively discussion. I agree that this is one of THE best times to use social media then there ever has been Instagram is on fire AND if you're advertising, it just launched it's new ad platform - which is a powerhouse. The beauty is these social platforms can really deliver very (SUPER) targeted traffic to your offer if you've done comprehensive research on your niche and target customers.

Drones are also really hot right now and also offer an opportunity for you to capitalize on the visual nature of them.

Don't give up on FB, Twitter, Instagram, etc. They are all great and can be used strategically (with your promotion or sales funnel) to produce long term profitable outcomes.

      You're so right.

Those who bag using social as a platform are only failing at it.

There has never been a better way to laser target an audience, and drill not only into demographics, but psychographics.

The ability to not only identify the online shoppers within your audience along with audience intersection now, is what continues to make us well over 5 figures net profit a month. That's from FB ads alone.

Don't be disheartened by the jaded/failed marketers and don't be discouraged by your own failures, for they are indeed a valuable lesson.

Feel free to PM me anytime for a chat on the subject. No sales spiel involved

      Nic
