Here are some ideas for you:
    1. Follow and Unfollow method will gain you followers (you can follow upto 7500 people, they typicall will follow you back, then unfollow the people who don't follow you, rinse and repeat every hourly)
    2. Using Hashtags with every post
    3. Buying Instagram Shoutouts from established sites
    4. Buying Instagram Mentions
    5. Run an Instagram Ad
    6. Buy an Established site that already has followers and build upon it

With Instagram it doesn't hurt to have some initial Followers to make the page look more popular using Social Proof.

Buying Instagram Followers is fine, as long as you buy Likes for each post to show Engagement...

We did a case study where we took two identical Instagram pages. One started with zero followers the other with 5,000 Fake Followers

Using the Follow/Unfollow method of growing the page the one with the Fake Followers grew 25% faster.

The reason it did was because of "Social Proof", people are more likely to follow the page that looks popular.

Do you own testing but this works across all the Social Networks.

          I am just curious.

I have an Instagram account that is growing pretty rapidly by my taking iPhone photos. Everyday, I receive a lot of followers. Many of these are from internet marketers, I guess trying to promote their product, service or affiliate offer. Most are very random to very cold prospects. Before I follow back, I check each account to see what type of images or graphics that they have uploaded. When I see an account that just has crappy promotion photos or images or graphics concerning affiliate offers, I click away, I don’t follow them. And don’t think I am unique.

So, what do these guys get out of it? True some accounts probably blindly follow back, but these are very, very cold prospects. I don’t see any way to win them over with blatant spam. So, why do IMers do it? Why do so many waste their time?

For me, I am pushing photo and video courses. I don’t bang people over the head trying to get them to buy my products. My promotion is very subtle, just a link and a “I do photo and video courses” in my description. But, it leads to work for me.

I am building from the ground up, taking my time and building value on Instagram. Why don't others do the same? I have been doing IM for over 10 years, I have never found any shortcuts that are sustainable.

I agree. If you want followers that are engaged and actually interested, there are no shortcuts.
            • Post original content that captures interest and expresses your message.
            • Interact with follower and other users.
            • Follow and follow back people you really like.

It's not going to bring your 1k followers per week. But it will build your brand, which brings you actual paying customers, not just a virtual fan base.

the problem with this method is your engagement ratio will be in trash. Anyone who knows anything about instragram will be able to see thru it. Speed vs Quality. I will take Quality 10 out of 10 times.

I use Influxsocial.com for all the accounts I manage and they are way faster than instagress or any others. They also give you 5 days for free without a credit card...so you prolly can unfollow all the people you want in that amount of time...HA.

I'm using Instagress also with great success. I am able to add approx 5000 followers per month per account I have running with them. They charge $9.99 per month per Instagram account you set up with them. They can automate your liking, commenting, following and unfollowing. Also they keep adding new cool features to their system. For example if you find an account that is similar to yours or in the same niche you can set Instagress to follow all of their followers and it will do that slowly within Instagram's limits of course.

Buying shoutouts from relevant accounts will help you get REAL followers like Instagress does but the prices of shoutouts keep rising as people are now aware that this isn't just some silly hobby but when you have a large following and you post someones pic to promote their account or business to their following you are basically offering advertising and people are wising up to the fact that there is serious money to be made in the advertising game so it's getting expensive to buy your way to 100k followers and can now range in the $2000-$5000 mark depending on the niche and cost of shoutouts. But if you search and contact as many large accounts as you can you will still find great deals.

Another thing with automating your comments with Instagress you want natural comments like "nice pic" or "cool account" etc. Don't be spammy by flat out saying "follow me" or "buy my product" or your account will get flagged by users and possible closed for good. You can however use hashtag #followme and this is ok. And since you'll be automating your comments if you use Instagress make sure you login to your account and engage with your followers, when that account stops running in Instagress, meaning a lot of them will respond to your generic comments so manually responding back will help keep your followers engaged.

One more tip. Don't login to your Instagram app and upload any images while you are running that account in Instagress so as not to trip Instagrams security. If you do at the least you will have to verify your account by email or text and the worst case scenario is you will lose that account or it will be closed. This used to be permanent but now Instagram will email you with specific instructions on how to possibly be able to get your account back. At least they now work with you instead of against you.

I have 52 Instagram accounts running in my Instagress account and only had one permanently closed on me a year ago because I logged in to upload pics and forgot I had it running in Instagress at the same time. However I recently forgot with one newer account and it happened again but they emailed me and I followed their instructions and got that account back again which is great.

Those are some good tips! I have experienced the same thing. I have over 120 accounts that I manage...except I use Influxsocial.com. I used to used Instagress but this is faster and better and much more robust. I compared the two for awhile even before switching all the accounts over to Influxsocial.com

You can always use a bot such as MassPlanner,Instagress,FollowLiker etc. Or follow these steps:

Step 1: Complete all the basic information

As soon as your account has been created, you should focus on writing a decent biography and upload a good profile picture.

When a user goes to your profile, the first thing they are going to look at is your picture and your biography. Try to make it look appealing.

When a potential follower goes to your profile they should get a grasp of what your business/brand is. Are you selling fitness supplements? Make sure they know that just by looking at your profile.

    Step 2: Quality Content

No one is going to follow your page if you post bad and repetitive content. Spending a couple of hours each week to make/find content is a good idea.

Why would anyone follow your page if you offer the same content as 200 other pages? Content is the most important thing on Instagram, use that to your advantage.

You might wonder what “good content” is? That depends on your niche. A good strategy is to find popular pages in your niche and use them as inspiration.

However make sure that you don’t copy their page. Instagram is very fast to disable accounts for copyright violations.

    Step 3: Like other pictures

Other Instagram pages has to see your page in order to follow you, what is the best way to make other pages pay attention to yours? By liking their pictures.

I am going to share a good strategy that i use when it comes to liking other pictures. Let’s pretend our account is focused on fitness.

A good idea is to like other pages that are using fitness hashtags, because they are interested in fitness and your account is focused on fitness. You see the connection? There’s a good chance that they are going to follow you.

Step 4: Comment on other pictures

This strategy usually performs better than the previous one, i suggest that you add both to your marketing strategy for the best results.

I am guessing that you are using a smartphone (We live in 2016.) Go to your “notes” and start writing 20-30 good comments that you can leave on other pages pictures.

The goal is to make them follow you, so don’t leave spammy comments on their pictures. It’s just going to piss them off and probably block your page.

A good strategy that i always use when i build new accounts is to ask questions. By doing that there’s a higher chance that they reply to your comment and follow your page.

    Step 5: Use relevant hashtags

Using relevant hashtags is a great strategy to increase your followers.

You can add up to 3 hashtags in each caption, i don’t suggest that you add more because it makes your account look spammy and desperate for followers.

Let’s say that you are sharing a photo of a “cat” on Instagram, a good strategy would be to use hashtags such as #cat #animal #pet etc.

Great tips...3 & 4 really work but they also require A LOT of work. There are some apps for auto-liking posts based on some hashtags, but use them sparely so you don't get your account blocked.

Actually you can add up to 30 hashtags, and they also work well by bringing new people to your posts. I add 30 to a post and get around 100 Likes (I have a small number of followers, so most likes come from hashtags).

Don't use one-word hashtags as they are too general and have hundreds of posts every minute...so your post will get lost in the crowd. Make hashtags of 2, 3 or even more words. For example instead of #pet #cat write #CatLover #CatsAreAmazing and so on

  • Interacting with audiences is a best way to capture them. The more you comment, like and repost the content of other people, the more they stick by you. Or you can also dm the other account for a shoutout for shoutout or a repost of your best photo.. It usually works. Goodluck.
