Facebook Business page or Facebook Group for your Business?

Hi,

Lately I've read and seen a few experiments where facebook group pages prove to be much higher in getting attention and receiving traffic than facebook fan or facebook business pages?...

What are your thoughts? Would you recommend doing one or the other for your niche or business? Or would you recommend doing both?

Anyone have any real world experience?

Thanks

JT

For a business, it is usually recommended to have a Facebook Page rather than a Facebook Group:

    i) Facebook Pages are more transparent with regard to taking customer feedback. Even if you don't give rights to the users to post to your page, they can always post their feedback in the comments section of your posts. A case in point - Pages of major Ecommerce players like Amazon. In contrast, even if you form an open Facebook Group, users have to be members before they can post anything. This negatively affects user engagement.

ii) Facebook Pages are by design meant for businesses to display their important info (website link, address, what they do etc.), whereas Facebook Groups are by design meant to connect stakeholders of similar interest group. Hence, it makes more sense for Amazon to have a Page rather than a Group, and it makes more sense for Liverpool Fans to have a Facebook Group rather than a Facebook Page.

iii) Facebook Insights/Analytics is an integral part of every Facebook Page which is not the case with a Facebook Group. Facebook Insights helps to derive actionable insights to enhance user engagement on your facebook page.

iv) When you want to enhance brand awareness on Facebook, you have an option of promoting your Posts/Page/Website through your Facebook Page, but no such option is available on Facebook Groups.

Hence, in most cases, there's no logic to prefer Facebook Group over Facebook Page. However, there's an exception. When you are a small business wanting to sell products on Facebook, then Facebook Group is the more relevant for you, because it gives you an additional feature to "Sell Something".

    Hope this helps.

I switched from facebook group to page some time ago and I have seen a big increase in engagement and visibility.

From time to time, when I do some special event or campaign I will open a group for that specific purpose and add people who I think will like and participate. These groups are more personal and the direct interaction helps but they are also always short lived, and engagement tends to die down after some time.

I prefer Facebook groups over a fan page...

Although you miss out on a lot less of the viral aspect, the engagement tends to be much more targeted.

I would rather have a Facebook fan page. It's much more easier to manage. Facebook groups requires people joining the group or would even require you to approve them depending on the settings of your facebook group. Also, I believe you can only run facebook ads using the a facebook fan page, not a facebook group.

Facebook pages are where its at. You can link products from your website to your page, you can advertise every aspect and anyone can like it, there is no need to be "approved" in a world where everyone wants instant gratification its not smart to force someone to have to wait to be accepted.

Hi! In my opinion, it is better to create a Facebook page. It's like a page of your business and you can link your products or services there! Also you can write other useful information there! If you have more free time, you can additionally creat a Facebook group! Let me know, which way you have choose! Thank you!!

I suggest you to use Facebook pages too! Furthermore, I suggest you to combine your FB page with your own website, so it will have a big effect on your business. Using FB page will provide you with an ability to attract a great number of fans, so then use them to drive website traffic to generate leads and increase your sales.

According to my opinion, Facebook page is better compared to Facebook Group.

I do both. And I use the group to push activity on my page posts for 'free' traffic boosts. Once I have a good amount of 'organic' traffic, I pay to boost and the ad runs much better.
