What works for Twitter!

I'm looking to branch out to get creative and for my Twitter followers in my niche.

What has worked for me thus far..

Believe it or not, following celebrities in my niche, tweeting to them and retweeting their tweets... I've grown a steady following that way...

What has been your method to gain followers?

GO!

What worked best for me was following the followers of my competitors.
Most of them will follow back.
Also I regularly search relevant hashtags and reply to tweets from random people that are connected to my niche. Starting conversations that way I got a lot of new followers and leads.

I guess it depends a bit on the niche you're in

The biggest thing is to follow a lot of people, be interactive, and provide value. Share links to other people's content that you found useful/entertaining, take part in relevant conversations, and don't make it it all about you/your brand. Also, be sure to cycle through your followers regularly and unfollow people who don't follow back; ideally you want to have more followers than people you are following.

    1) Following others

    2) Setting up Crowd Fire App with a personal message for anyone who follows back (automated).

    3) Message goes to a squeeze page

Following a lot of people daily in my niche.
    Good tweets with hashtags daily.
Adding a good bio also helped me in getting more followers quickly.

    1. Add a follow button to your website, include a link to your profile in your email signature, and promote it on offline collateral such as business cards, or store signage.
    2. Search keywords and hashtags that relate to your industry and audience. Use them to enter into conversations and get noticed, and follow influencers who can help spread the word about your business.
    3. Ask or encourage your followers to retweet your post. When someone Retweets your content, they’re sharing your business with their networks and your reach grows exponentially. Be direct, and ask your followers for their support.

Following big accounts seems to work.

As for me, I participate in the #follow back hashtags and the like, but most of the time the followers "unfollow" me later. Does anybody here know any way around it?

I also try to keep following them but they "unfollow" me in the end, so I have to "unfollow" them too.

I tried this on many accounts but its all the same.

I too follow followers of popular accounts on Twitter. Most people follow back. And that also gets me other followers very easily. Just make sure to unfollow those that don't follow you back soon enough or Twitter will limit your follow allowance.. I try to retweet tweets as well as interact with tweets. A pretty good site to use is: CoPromote.com.. you retweet others' tweets on the site and earn credit to boost your tweets which is people retweeting your tweets....I feel like a birdie There is a free service and upgraded service. It gets you eyeballs and more followers. Good luck!

3 Major Purposes why Do we Use twitter.

    1. Share your own content, filter and aggregate other people’s content and network for links and conversations.

    2. Tweet routinely

    Main Reasons:

    a. People that follow me on Twitter appreciate that I find good marketing related content for them and save them the work of rooting it out themselves

    b. People who’s content I share will at least consider whether my content is worth sharing.

    3. Listing --- Putting all customer's, competitor's, and media sources on Twitter lists so it’s easy to keep up on what they are doing, asking, sharing and requiring on Twitter.

    4. Engage 3rd party tools

For example is Hootsuite. Because this tool can be useful to follow your list easily.

I built an app using the Twitter Rest API. It automatically follows just under 300 people per day based on highly targeted keywords. Stores my followees/followers in a database and then dumps followees who have not followed me back after a few days. It also sends a welcome message to each new follower. I'm getting about 100 new followers a day this way. It's all on autopilot now. So far so good.
