What do you do to capture emails/leads?

Right now I'm giving away a relevant free ebook on my niche instagram account in exchange for an opt-in. After one day I just got 11 subscribers, not much to talk about.. But I believe over time it's possible to build a big list with this method. The big question is how I'm going to monetise this list.

I guess it depends on what you offer and what social media outlet you use. I've found Instagram the best for getting buyers and I'm only interested in having a buyers list. Facebook is tricky because quite honestly people don't go on to FB with a view to buying anything, they just want to socialize. These days an ebook isn't considered a fair exchange for an email address. Just look at your own inbox each morning and you soon realize that a great many online marketers are happy to sell your details even though they say "your details are safe with us." People are sick to death of unwanted emails and most will only give an email address that they only use to empty the mail without even reading it. Hence I'd rather build slowly with buyers because I know the email address they give for delivery is at least monitored. To get them to respond offer something of great value, that's the big trade off today. Hope this is helpful. Cheers, Dave

Hey a great tactic to use for capturing emails is to create an account that features people. Use Instagress bot to create variations of comments saying something along the lines of "if you'd like a feature, send us an email at ...." Only comment on people who would be using the hash tag for the genre of account you have. You'll get lots of people who email you. You can choose to feature them or not, but whats important is you got an email list and it will continue to grow.

I market the content in social media and drive the traffic to my site. I use pop-ups, smart bar, hello bar etc. to capture email from visitors.

If you use Facebook try a contest with leads as the campaign goal. But you have to import the emails manually in your autoresponder unless you have a 3rd party API service.

Free reports (pdfs) work like a charm on facebook as fb traffic loves free stuff!

I am promoting contests/giveaways on Facebook using upviral. Using Facebook leads it's very easy for people to subscribe since they don't have to enter their details by hand. It's tricky though, you can have a great optin rate from older people for example, but get only few sales. There are some great CPA offers in some niches though.
