Alternatives to reddit?

Hoping to launch a soccer blog in the near future and trying to get the groundwork done with regards to traffic generation. Networking with other blogs will be important going forward, but I believe reddit will be the easiest source for at least the initial trickle of traffic at the start. Have been trying to 'build up' the profile by participating on the platform, posting comments and links (not just soccer related) over the last couple of weeks in order to ensure that the mods won't see me as spammy. Tried it out with a club specific blog of a friend, posting two links and found that one got around 34 views and the other 49.

The problem though will be the frequency...initially thought that I should post my link once every three days. Then realized that I will be making 2-3 posts every week (the blog won't be generic, news related one), it could get problematic if I start posting each and every link that I publish on to reddit (don't know whether they can find out if I do so). Decided that I will submit one of every three posts that I publish but that would mean just one link every week.

Are there any other sites similar to reddit? Thought about stumbleupon but have read that the site has been on the downhill and not worth the time spent. Will be going on facebook as well but believe that it will require some time before I start seeing any returns...and of course there is always blog comments and networking with other blogs.

Also will be very grateful for any other marketing tips as well

For marketing tips, try using different social media. You can easily connect to people through social media.

It's a lot easier to reach people through the use of social media. You just have to find your target market and show them what you offer.

In my opinion, Reddit is the most popular place on the internet for discovering waht's new happening on the Web. It is fast , always updated and certainly defines its tagline "front page of the Internet".
But if you are looking for some alternative solutions, then here is the list:
    1. Voat - has the same user interface as Reddit, but the only difference is that Voat uses subverses for similar stuff.
    2. Quora - lets it users ask questions on the site and other users can answer those questions if they feel they have an idea about the topic.
    3. 4Chan - is an imageboard that lets its users post images on their favorite boards and post comments on other people's shares as well.
    4. Hacker News - all you get here is a simple news from around the world related to technology.
    5. ProductHunt - it is the hunt for the perfect products available in the market.
There are also many other great alternatives which you can find on the Web!
I hope that this information is useful for you!
