Short answer, yes. But you need to consider every other available marketing platform, too, as well as marketing effectively on Amazon.

Hey Nat, you'll want to get more reviews as this definitely plays a big role in how Amazon showcases your book to people on their site.

You should look at other books in the dieting niche and do a Google search to find reviews of those books.

Once you find another book such as "The Fast Metabolism Diet", go to Google and search "The Fast Metabolism Diet review".

Contact the owners of the sites with reviews and let them know that you also have a diet book and would love if they could take a look at it and leave an honest review on Amazon.

Also, be sure to compliment them on their site and say you love their work when reaching out as this will warm them up a bit to you.

One more thing, do NOT link to your book on your first contact; wait for the site owner to respond and agree to check out your book.

You can also do this with general diet, weight loss and fitness blogs (sites that are relevant but don't have any reviews on them) by searching Google for keywords related to those markets.

YouTube is great but you must need to be active on it and need niche subscribers. You also need to upload related videos regularly. So this is a hard marketing process for me and I would go for other social media like twitter because twitter has the highest conversation rate!

YouTube is great for free traffic and especially driving traffic to your blog where you can build your list. Give a free chapter away from here or shopping list, or check sheet of some sort. Then do followups in the email mentioning different points that can be found in your book and where it is available from.

If you have only one book then you need to do much more than just sticking it anywhere, you need to market it wherever you can. You need to market it like hell if you wanna see some results. The only way that sticking it somewhere will work is if you flood the market with your books. You create hundreds of books and put them out there and then you'll need less marketing, otherwise you need a lot of marketing work if you want to make substantial money. Oh, and let me just say that you need to have a very, very good book in the first place if you intend to rely on that one book for income.

Do them both. You don't have to stick with just one if you don't want to. If you don't want to do free marketing, then throw money at it via paid advertising. Paid advertising is fast and can get you results quicker. The mud is that you have to spend money to get the traffic.

Not sure how can you target people with YouTube. With Facebook you can target pages of popular books or people that are interested in books. Regardless, make sure to offer a gift in the first pages of the book and send them to an optin page. So yeah, if you are serious about this you need a website.
