How can I increase memebers in my Facebook Group?

27 replies
Dear all social media Gurus,

I have facebook groups, but will you please help me out on how to increase the members in the group?

I have been using various marketing strategies like:
1. Content Sharing.
2. Polling.
3. Voting.
4. Group Discussion etc.

But didn't get much traffic and engagement.

So please share your valuable insights and advice that can help me to grow my facebook members.

    Content for me has always been king. I run various buy/sell/swap groups and other highly targeted niche groups for physical items (arbitrage and flipping). I've gotten away with zero cost traffic for a few years now. Cultivating friendships with other groups admins and cross posting has been amazing for my memberships, watching the membership grow is amazing, just letting your quality content and the viral effect of members inviting other members is very cool to watch.

    I also create sister groups with very similar target interests. Cross promote in those as well, seems to do the trick for they way I'm working things which I'd say is pretty bespoke.

    Hope this helps somewhat or gives you a few ideas.

  • I agree with cross promoting. Most groups/pages are doing it nowadays, but you need some time to establish friendships with other groups having the same niche as yours. However if you have money to spare or if you want quick results, you can go for FB ads.

    A good way to incrase members is to post real giveaways or prize games that require sharing. I do that with most of my pages (if niche allows it) and I have seen good results.

      What giveaway service do you use. I thought about using contest but not sure what service/software to use. Also, I don't see any contest going on in the groups I visit. If it is a great way to build, why don't you think more marketers us it?
      Thank you. Al

    I suggest you to follow these simple rules:
    - invite new members to your group;
    - make your group open to let everyone to join your group;
    - let anyone to see your group;
    - share your group link on your Facebook page.

    Just try to advertise your group on your Facebook page or ask your friends to do it! If you have an email list, you can send an information about your group by email.

    Well, it seriously depends on what your group is about. I feel groups tend to be a little bit outdated in FB, and only really a couple of genres of groups still flourish. Which to my knowledge, are the "Add me" groups and the "Post Your Ads" kind of groups. There probably are many more, but for the most part they are people who simply add thousands of their already FB friends to attain that many people in their groups. So unless you are working in either 1 of these 2, it's near impossible to get people who voluntarily join your group. However, you can just add friends of your FB account in groups without their consent. As such, if you have a fake account with 5000 friends, it won't be that hard. However I believe that you'd like a FB group to market some kind of product to these people. As such, even though you have a group of a couple thousand people, you most probably only have a slight chance of making any money if you're advertising a extremely general offer like "Make Money Online" or "weight loss" kind of niche.

      You should join other groups and meet new friends. Share your group to them and your objective. They might be encouraged to join your group. Give them an overview of your group.

    Something that I have done in the past which can help; when you receive requests from other people to like their groups, do it then send them a message saying you've done and include a link to your group asking them to do the same. Some people don't respond, but most do and you can start increasing your numbers this way

    Post a link in another similar group. Just make sure to ask the administrator first. Some will say yes and some will say no.

    Once a couple say yes, it can really grow your group if it is related to the same niche.

    Create Facebook PPC ADs and then target the clicks to your group page.

    Put your Facebook Group URL on all your other social network sites. Stay active on those networks and you'll bound to get some new members.

    Depending on what niche or topic your FB Group is about, comment on related forums and put the link to it in your signature and/or profile page.

    Join relevant groups, interact with people, make connections and invite for your own group in a decent way.
    Provide quality content and be more specific to the niche.

  • Join as many as groups you can related to your audience and try to post attractive content on your page which includes images as most of the peoples ignore reading the texts.

    Use #hashtags

    A quality content is enough to drive traffic and increase engagement. But you should also become active on your group, create a niche specific page and share good content on regualr basis. Facebook pages are public and get more exposure than groups quickly, then simply you can divert your fan/followers to your closed groups.

    Write a more attractive and creative content for your audience. But you know.. sometimes, it's not just about technicalities.. sometimes it's about personality and character. I advice you to be friendly. Do not treat your competitors as competitors. Treat them as friends especially those who have the same niche as yours.

    I've seen the best results by joining other group and helping members out with quality content. After some time they become intrigued and start speaking with you. This is when you can let them know about your group.

    Joining relevant groups is a great start. Make sure your group has something unique that is not easily found in the other groups. It can be your approach that is vastly different that might suffice.
