Can anyone else use my Instagram name ?

If I have an Instagram name like, for example, 1000selfies, if someone adds the hashtag #1000selfies to any image caption, and someone else selects it, they will be directed to my Instagram page, correct? It is exclusively mine?

Yes whatever name you choose and if there is a hashtag before your name, it will be directed to you for sure. I am not sure if that is exclusive, but it can direct to multiple pages too.

If you use #1000selfies on your IG photo, and people search/click the same hashtag as you did, they will be redirected to a window of all the pictures with #1000selfies. This is the reason why some people use so many hashtags to gather likes and exposure. However, some of them use famous hashtag even though its off-topic, it's ridiculously disgusting though.

If they click t hashtag it will go directly to the photos that have the same hashtag.

It won't go directly to the user the user with that username.

This is correct they will go to that hashtags category if they type it in or upload a photo or video with that hashtag. They will not automatically be redirected to your account but if there are lots of posts with that hashtag and someone types in that hashtag they will see your pics and from there they would have to tap on your account name at the top of your photo or video to go to your account. This will be a manual action of them choosing to tap your account name to check out your account not automatically. Also I understand what you mean by it's your hashtag which means you found that no one was using it and you started to use it thus creating that hashtag but anyone else can use it either because they see it and like it or they think of that hashtag on their own also and by chance use it also. So even if you created a hashtag anyone can use it. To do your best at keeping it exclusive to you it needs to be something people are unlikely to ever use like #1000selfies49376 or something people are unlikely to think up.

      Hope that helps

  • No, sorry. It won't go to you. What Instagram will do is bring up photos that use that hashtag

Same thing with search. And if they type #1000selfies in the search box Instagram will bring up photos with that hashtags. If users just type 1000selfies, posts with that hashtag would come up first in the search options, next are similar hashtages, then profiles with that name or similar names.

if they click a certain hashtag it will redirect them to a lot of photos that uses the same hashtag. It won't redirect to your profile. It's kind of different thing.

Not directed right to your page but the page for that hashtag. Your goal should be to get on top of as many hashtags as you can and to stay there! study hashtags similar to your niche!

Hello, as in # , a lot of people can use this name, but as a name of your account, it can’t be!

I don't think so. You still have to use the search bar for users and then you still have to input your username to it. You'll only see photos that use the sam hashtag when you click that certain hashtag.

  • With instagram's algorithm, it will directly go to a common feed with the same hashtags #100selfies. However, if they search directly coming from the "explore posts" menu (the one with the magnifying glass logo) let's say 100selfies (with hashtags), your username&account will come up as a suggestion.

And nope, only you can use your instagram name.

You are the only one who can use your Instagram name.

But if you use an hashtag then if someone searches for it, your post will be with all the other results with the same hashtag, they won't land directly on your post.

You click the hashtags and it will go directly to a lot of photos using the same hashtag. Not to your profile.
