Facebook begins displaying Ads to non-users. Good or bad?

As per their announcement from yesterday, Facebook's getting a little bigger in the Advertising world:

Bringing People Better Ads | Facebook Newsroom

Today, we're expanding Audience Network so publishers and developers can show better ads to everyone - including those who don't use or aren't connected to Facebook.

As a user, this sounds a bit heisty...as a marketer though...yay!?

However, I do feel that some people will get annoyed on the marketer that's pushing a product, through a Facebook Ad, to a non-user. Although Facebook gives the power to the user to chose what ads to see (if any), Ad blocks might go on the rise because of this.

What do you think of Facebook's change?

    Interesting.

I'm not certain that surfers care about whose ad platform is being used for product awareness.

Filtered ad targeting is the big, big, big thing, and Google is already plastering surfing and search-based ads in front of us. I must say that I find that very annoying; an intrusion, in fact.

On the other hand, if I am interested in buying certain products at some point in time, I do appreciate the variety of choices the targeted ads provide.

All advertising is chancy. Had I not seen the Prego pasta sauce ad decal on the floor of my grocery market, I would have forgotten to pick up a bottle of Francesco Rinaldi, my favorite pasta sauce.

So we will now see ads that use the Facebook platform. Okay, that means more sign-ups for Facebook and just maybe a product I'll buy.

Facebook is not be doing anything that the retargeting companies are doing. If you have a problem with Faebook expanding their reach then you should have a problem with all retargeting ads that you see on your favorite websites.

Since we're bakers talking in a bakery, I assume we all love flour and sugar

I'm curious what the good people of facebook must be thinking....
