Hey Warriors,

I've been following this forum for a while but this is the first time i've actually posted in here. I've been inspired to start my own youtube channel and was wondering if there are any vloggers on here?

I've been doing some research on it for a while now and I understand the commitment it will take to create video content almost everyday but i'm ready for it and up for the challenge!

If there is anyone who is vlogging or knows much about it, I would love to know some tips on getting started in terms of getting exposure to my youtube channel.

Thanks,
Matt

p.s. if this is in the wrong thread please let me know

Hey Nie, the first thing you want to do is to determine what you channel is about. Don't just create videos for the sake of creating videos. There are millions of videos already on YouTube.

Try to determine how you can stand out and build your own brand and following.

Have you already done market research?

    Who are you targeting?

What's the objective of starting a vlog? Do you have a long term plan?

You need to think really hard about those questions so that you can have a strategic plan going ahead.

And you don't have to vlog everyday, once or twice a week can do. Just have to make sure that you are putting out quality content that your subscribers will enjoy!

    Hope that helps.

      Hey Yesacpow,

Thanks so much for the tips!
You're right, I definitely need to figure out my target market and purpose behind the vlog before I get started. I don't want to be creating pointless content.

I guess the question is how do I know if my content is unique enough from other videos out there?
Also, does it come down to how well you market your content?

  • Market your video. You can post the video's urls on ur different social media accounts as well as any forum or blog you maintain. You can forward/post the link to different blogs over the internet. The more places on the Internet you post the video's , the more traffic you will be able to drive.

Great idea! How do you forward/post the link to different blogs? do you need to get in touch with the blog owners?

Focus on the quality of the videos first, make sure they are good and appealing so people will share them.

A quality content has a few important factors:
Value of its content that you want to share.
The quality of the video and audio of it.
How interesting it is enough for your audience to finish the whole video.

    Hi Nie,

Have a unique and true topic that your video blogs will be about. Some of the most popular youtube channels are super niche and are focused on really, really simple topics and interest areas.

Get a YouTube account, and make sure that you give your channel an attractive name.

Start posting interesting or entertaining videos daily (It would be best to have ten of these up your sleeve before you begin). Be aware of what your audience is after and encourage them to contact you and suggest topics.

Keep being active and upload videos very regularly to keep your followers engaged. Constantly communicate with your followers, taking the time respond to comments, messages, and video responses you receive.

Best of luck in your vloging adventure!

Hey st0nec0ld, thanks for the advice!

      Hey gingerninjas, totally agree! thanks.

So the take away from this has been...
      1. Create GREAT, unique, valuable content that is attention grabbing and appealing for your niche
      2. Great content will be naturally shared
      3. Promote your video on other blog sites and comment on other peoples videos
      4. Be consistent with posting videos
      5. Keep an open communication with your audience

      Thanks everyone, wish me luck.
