Facebook Promotion for Supermarket

Hi All,

I've been asked to setup and manage a local supermarket's Facebook presence to a low-earning demographic who accesses the internet though mobile devices mostly.

I'm very new at this and am looking for a few pointers which are tailored to this sort of business model and demographic.

From what I have already read, social media marketing should not just be about pushing product sales specials - but this is very tempting given that I am being asked to promote a supermarket business to a low earning community.
The supermarket brand is already very strong and is recognized as a house-hold name - they carry their own brand of products too.
I imagine the demographic are mostly blue-collar workers - so this makes me wonder about the day of the week and time of day to release content.

Ultimately, I imagine the supermarket are looking to increase supermarket loyalty within the area.
It may not necessarily just be about getting a shopper to spend more, but getting them to spend what they already spend with the supermarket I will be working with.

Can anyone suggest a strategy, frequency, or basically anything that I should be thinking of / recommending to get me started ?

Hi, as I am not in your shoes, I can only recommend things that have worked for brands. They are like ABC of facebook marketing.
    1. You should not approach your audience directly with a sales pitch. Advertising is all about grabbing attention. And the most common mistakes newbies make is directly pitching their potential customers with a product. Your first ad should be an introduction of your company. What do you do? Why do you do? What makes you different? What's your usp? In short, you need to make your customers familiar with your brand face.
    2. Usually, the second type of ad is a kick-ass blog post or a great content that hits the pain points of your audience. But as your brand is a supermarket, I am not sure whether this will work or not. My recommendation is to replace this ad with a discount offer. Or something exclusive. Or an offer like up to 50% off on date xyx.

Again, I don't know about your audience nor your client, so it's difficult to make some recommendations. Also, please utilize facebook retargeting.
    Thanks
