Increasing Facebook followers.

Hi everyone,
I really need some help from a social media expert!
I've been running an online business for a few months now and I'm growing my client base slowly but surely.
I have a Facebook page and I point the majority of my posts to my website with the goal of making sales.
I believe I have all of the recommended strategies in place such as relate to your audience, mix the style and content up and keep it interesting, prove your authority in the area etc, however I'm still not getting an increase in followers on my Facebook page. Predominantly it's just my friends and family who are seeing and sharing my posts.
I understand that to build up your following genuinely and authentically takes time, but I believed that I'd start to see some traction by this stage, but a few months in, it just doesn't seem to have happened.
I've paid to boost a few posts but I understand this is relatively dead money without some sort of strategy, and I wondered if anyone could offer any advice on growing a following?
How did you do it? For those of you with a healthy Facebook following, how long did it take you to see movement that wasn't just from people you know, and does anyone have any advice?
My reach is so low some days I must be missing something!
Any help is, as always, gratefully received!

You are on the right path mentioning that you already tried the best practices like relating to your audience, have mixed and interesting content, and more. What I can suggest is for you to also like other relevant pages that may get you connections and have the visitors write down on your wall instead of commenting on posts by closing comments that can possibly increase discussion rate and likes for your page.

Work hard on your posted content (you can even hire an author for this) - in this way you will have virus effect for your publications and more people will be involved and more followers you can get.

If you are not getting enough followers why not try to invest on paid Facebook ads. It can promote your page to different Facebook users and you even have the option to target specific people, depending on your preference as well as how much money you are willing to spend.

First thing to do is make sure your Facebook page looks good. Do you have a nice cover photo with all your biz info and other social media info on it? If not get one created. Cheapest place to go is Fiverr. Next, you have to give people a reason to visit your page in the first place. Make sure you post often. Every time you write a blog post, page, or add a service on your biz site, make sure you link to it on your Facebook page with a little description.

Lastly, I would recommend a Facebook ad campaign. You can go as little as $5/day for as long or short as you want and target the ad so it's only viewed by people within the criteria you select.

Online success is much like your retirement savings....it will compound and grow faster over time.

Thanks for the great tips Kevin.
I have a lot of that in place already so I'm happy that I'm reasonably ahead of the eight-ball!
I am aware that it's a slow game but as I said, I would hope to have seen more traction than I have but I guess I'll just keep at it. Are Facebook ads more beneficial than boosting posts? I haven't really looked into that side of it?

Those are great suggestions. I have not seen your page just yet nor posts but if ever, try to be upfront with your readers on what you want to gain from it. Be specific that you want them to follow your page, like and share. It won't hurt as if they find the pages content interesting it would really be great for the business.

  • Make use of the sidebar widgets which shows your fans profile photos which will make you seem popular to those new visitors (I think) which will most likely entice them to follow or like your page. Also, for your website itself, make sure you still have those Facebook comment box, like and share buttons.

    Hi Words.
Great name! Are you an editor?
I'm travelling in the same direction as you and I'm just about to engage with a social media expert/manager to get some professional help. I've focussed on Facebook too but I've found that the growth rate is so slow, sometimes not even one new 'liker' a week that I just don't see how it can ever grow to a following that is of any value. But as I said, this isn't my area of expertise I'm just here for the extra knowledge.
It sounds as if you're doing everything right, have you tried talking to someone who can manage an ad campaign for you? I know that Facebook like to mix up their algorithms to get your content in front of the right people, but this is only based on guess work from them and I think a paid campaign might bring you more success?
I try not to make my posts too salesy and instead focus on building a relationship with existing followers - who are your target market? What do they like to see? There are lots of funny posts and quotes out there which will appeal to many markets.
One thing I have learnt is to stay consistent with your brand. Put a logo on all your posts, use the same font where possible (apps like Canva are good for creating unique stuff), and get your brand into people's heads. This means that as soon as an opportunity for them to use your service comes up, you'll be at the forefront of their mind. A little off topic but it's a great way to make use of existing followers!

It is about engaging your customers with various kinds of content. Think about what can you do with a post. Will you make it a game to entertain your customers ? Will it create some nostalgic feelings of them ? Will it be a surprising gift ? . There are many other things you can do in a post to make your customers love your page

Do you include any call to actions in your posts?

I would try to be active in facebook groups because they can drive a quite a lot of traffic. They have great members who will most likely share your posts. If you are interested in driving traffic from facebook groups, click the link!

Also to mention, Facebook ads are a great place to start gaining more likes because you can target people within your area.

Are you posting something interesting (images, videos, infographics) that your target market can relate to and would want to share with their family and friends? What is the link to your facebook fan page so we can suggest content ideas? Make sure not all your posts are promotional or about selling.

Curate the most interesting news, blog posts and videos for your facebook page. Focus on consistently providing the most relevant and compelling content. Research the frequently asked questions about your niche and create facebook posts to answer these questions. Engage with your audience. Ask questions to encourage them to share their own thoughts and experiences.

Followers in the sense you want to relate with like. Am I right? It's not so difficult to get likes or followers as the only thing which you need to follow is the consistency on your posts. Some crucial things which you need to know are:

    1. Quality content
    2. Interesting content with engaging sense
    3. Image should be attractive
    4. Creativity must be of high level
    5. Share blogs of your website
    6. Increase connections with other groups

The first thing to do is visit your Facebook Insights regularly to find out which content is working with your audience. Find your posts that have received the most engagement and highest reach, and kindly share these types of content more often. You can also tag other pages in your posts. When you tag other pages, your post will appear on their wall and may spark the interest of the pages' owners and fans.
