Followfriday as a tool to grow your twitter followers

Everyone knows the basic strategies to increase Twitter followers including increasing followers, using relevant hashtags and keywords...so 2014.

Recently I have identified some really unique ways which have helped me to increase followers nearly 3X. These include

- I have been including some contact information in my tweets, hopefully building some credibility with followers that I am a real person.

- I also have been adding a photo with tweets. I read in a recent Forbes article suggesting tweets with images receive 18% more engagement. Headshots are good, but not required other cool photos work too.

- I try to include positive or inspirational messages or quotes. It seems to help with others retweeting my original message.

- If my response would be useful to all, I will make it a public response.

- I try to build additional credibility by name dropping other influential users. Not only does is help with my followers, but it may also catch the attention of the influencer.

Has anyone else found other ways (gotta be unique) to help boost their posts and followers? Better yet ¦are there any organic ways to gain local followers?

    Good post!
    I agree, the hashtag approach is a bit old now, content is the best way to build a solid Twitter following right now.
    For organic followers, Ive been using a special feature of Hootsuite, that lets me track all the tweets that were made in an specific area, so that I can engage with them and gain more followers through there, it has given me some very good results so far.

    To help boost your post reach and followers, tweet during noon (12-3PM) and 5-6PM.
    When tweeting inspirational quotes, you can also @mention your target market. So research your target market on twitter and engage with them. Also follow the 80/20 rule for tweeting, which means 80% of your posts should be helpful/entertaining and only 20% is promotional. Goodluck!

    A proven way to get followers is also to participate in conversations around trending hashtags. Also create hashtags unique to your brand and encourage conversations around that hashtag via contests.
