How many hours a week do you spend on Social Media Management?

I'm interested how many hours you spend on your Facebook social media clients or your own Facebook business site.

Over the last few years I have been able to get the post and social media management side of things down to about 5 hours a month. In the first few years I feel like I was on there all the time and if I wasn't on my desktop updating it I was glued to my iphone.

What are you spending on this?

They are not huge pages - around 1000 to 2000 followers with one page of 5000 followers - and most I have been managing for a few years so it's easy to develop content to match the follower..

I spend way too many hours on it. I'm trying to get traction for a very early stage startup, so I feel like I have to spend a lot of time participating and trying to get our name out there.

I think I spend about 6-10hrs a week on social media (LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, Google+)

My biggest time waster is Google+, which isn't getting us any traffic and the community engagement is terrible - mostly spam. I still do it because I believe it helps Google ranking but that might not be true anymore. I'm actually planning on looking into that over the weekend. I think Google+ Communities are a waste of time.

LinkedIn is doing fine. Facebook is very slow to grow. Twitter is the best for traffic/traction - by far.

This sounds like me a few years ago. I honestly used to wake up and get on Facebook Pages and upload and reply to all the pages and spend hours agonising over posts.

When I moved over to Hootsuite and started developing a bit of a pattern for posts it did iron out a few hours here and there and now I have an assistant finding some up to date news and background material so it makes my posts so much easier to create.

I kinda agree with you about Google+ Communities - I have never got any traction out of it and have basically dropped that off my radar.

I certainly agree with "alexdeb" . Google plus just seems like a waste of my time! None of my friends (non-IM) use it at all. It seems as though only IM people use it to suck up to the big G.

As far as how many hours a week. I spend about half of my time (10 of the 20 hours I try to put in) on social networks. Facebook and Instagram the heaviest.
