24/7 Twitter presence in just a few minutes a day

Social media is such an important part of running any business these days and regardless of what channels you're on, you need to have presence.

With Facebook and Instagram you can prepare your posts in advance which means you only really need to spend a dedicated hour or so a week getting all your content together.

Like many people, I need to use Twitter but as it's such an 'on-the-go' app it can be hard to focus on that and other things as well like, you know, running a business!

Over the years I've managed to get my Tweets down to a fine art which means I am always present yet don't need to spend too much time checking my phone.

Thought I'd share a few of my little tricks with you all in case this can help someone manage their tweet time better too.

Spend five minutes a day checking your mentions:
This can be first thin in the morning, last thing at night or once in the middle of the day. It doesn't really matter when, as long as you're not pulling your phone out and checking it every time it beeps. I like to spend a dedicated few minutes re-tweeting and commenting where necessary to make sure that everyone who's taken the time to mention me gets a timely response. Doing this as and when the notifications came through meant that I was never fully switched off from Twitter which did get consuming.

Spend five minutes a day re-tweeting.
Set aside five minutes a day and have a look for any specific content and conversations which will benefit your followers. Doing this once or twice a day again means that you don't' get caught up in things as and when they happen, but you're still passing on relevant information.

DM's.
I'm sure you get a lot of spam so again, rather than get distracted every time a direct message comes through, I've turned the notifications off and I spend five minutes once a day deleting and responding to any relevant DMs, If people are genuinely interested in connecting with you, they'll definitely be happy to wait for a few hours at the most, for your response. This stops your attention being taken away from what you're doing for the sake of small or irrelevant messages.

Schedule tweets.
Twitter s so on the go that it's impossible to completely schedule all of your posts otherwise you'll look like you're not behind the screen which, let's face it, is the whole point of Twitter! But you can schedule two or three posts each day which makes your audience think you're active e when really you're stuck in meetings where you can't be distracted by social media posting.

So there are my few ways of being active on Twitter in just a few minutes a day. Breaking it down in blocks means that I don't get swept into the Twitter vortex and can remain active, engaging AND still do my work at the same time!

Do you do anything different to this?
