How to use Twitter for networking purposes?

Social Media is the new must in terms of marketing for companies, specially Twitter.
If you own a company and you are not making business in Twitter, its almost like you did not exist, but what is all the fuss about? Let me explain a few things you can achieve through Twitter:

● Create networks with value contacts: Do you remember a few years ago when you had a special agenda with all the business cards people give to you in events? Well, Twitter might be like a great agenda where you can book a lot of valuable contacts that can be of great value for your business.

Through Twitter you can not only meet new clients, but also find potential business partners, professionals that can help you boost your company, or even that valuable contact youve been looking for to take your company abroad.
Make sure to create a good profile that highlights the best of you and you will start your networking soon. Ive recently started using my personal account for talking about Social Media and business management, in just a few days, a lot of people from that niche started to follow me, even some great influencers and potential clients!

● Improve your branding process: Everyone is talking about branding and how important it is for your company, and Twitter might be the best place for doing branding.

A great example of this is Starbucks, they have conquered Twitter with an amazing branding strategy that allowed them to get millions and millions of followers and clients from all over the world, have a look at their accounts and see it for yourself.
● Direct connections with your clients: There is no better thing for a business to have a direct connection to clients and their thoughts, and Twitter will give you a direct entry to your customers minds.
Through Twitter, you can manage unhappy clients and neutralize their opinions, but you can also look at your happy ones and see what you can do to transform them into brand evangelists, this is, people that will talk about your company and promote it for free.
Regarding your question about the ethical side of buying followers, there is a great debate about that indeed, personally Im not convinced but one side or the other, I believe buying followers can be very harmful for your accounts if you abuse of them, but they can also be of great help to boost your accounts and getting new real followers, after all, lets be honest, no one follows smalls and unattractive accounts.

Twitter is just like a giant conversation, you need to be a part of that conversation if you want to exist! thats just the way things work right now. If you are not a part of the conversation, it will develop without you, and you will control what people is saying about you or your company.

How to network on twitter? Follow the person you want to build a connection with, then start liking and 'mindfully' retweeting some of his/her post that is relevant to you--meaning it's not just retweeting anything but adding a comment or context to post you are retweeting to help amplify the message. Then find the right timing and conversation to directly @mention the person you want to connect with. Make the post about what that person is interested in and not about your product or company. Try to answer questions posted by the influencer.
