10k Unresponsive Facebook Fans - Start Over or Keep them?

So as a result of spending a fair amount on facebook ads I've accumulated close to 10,000 facebook likes to my page.

The only thing is that engagement is very low. I typically get 1 or 2 likes per post I put up.

(Or maybe I just suck at engaging them )

So my question is should I keep them or start a new page at zero fans.

I'm just wondering if the low engagement will penalise me in the future. I want to grow my page to 100k likes at the very least and have a reasonable amount of engagement.

In all honesty, I'd work on your content.
I manage a few social media pages and I can get a reach of over 700 with a page that has only a hundred or so followers.

Starting again from scratch is going to be a real drain on your resource as it takes a long time to build up a following.

I would start by looking at the kind of content that you're putting out - while content needs to be a good mix of engaging, funny, informative etc; the biggest thing that increases reach is shareable content.

Unfortunately, Facebook do penalise you if you try to entice people to share your posts by way of a competition, bribe etc so it needs to be authentic.

Comment on a current affair or relevant news article, or something that is making big news at the moment and your engagement will no doubt increase.

It's OK to be controversial to a degree but I'd bear in mind that if you want people to become your customer/client; you need to give off a nice personality that they want to do business with, so I'd avoid being too confrontational with your posts.

Also, jokes, funny memes or cute and caring posts are always going to get some people to tag their loved ones and share on their own timeline which is another way to grow your reach.

Be consistent - post a mix of relationship-building pictures, videos and sales posts every day or every couple of days and slowly but surely you will increase engagement over time.

The last thing to remember is that all your posts should be branded. Canva is a great app that allows you to put your logo on everything you post; I'm a stickler for writing in the same font too so that your market get to know you but that's just me.

Don't give up - having an audience of 10,000 is a great asset - you just need to know how to get to them!

    Good luck!

  • For facebook or google ads, their are so many companies who daily affairs is to simply go click like or click on the ad .

Not sure when this whole concept of ads transforms into new better method.

Present scenario ... .of trap is "fake it till you make it" syndrome. Which is self boosting with no actual results in now.

    1. Are these likes organically sourced or were they paid for?
    2. What is your niche?
    3. Have you reviewed your content VS. others in your niche recently?

      1. They are likes to my page as a result of running ads on facebook. I was running traffic to a VSL (when that was allowed) and I accumulated these along the way.

      2. Health and nutrition

      3. I have. I'd say it could definitely be better, but at the same time I feel it's good enough to determine that engagement is lower than normal.

Your reach may be low based on the content and engagement you get.

You could just keep adding some more targeted followers through paid advertising and maybe it will start to pick up. Also maybe reevaluate your content maybe it's just that . Experiment with some other types of content and see if that works.

Yeah I'll give that a go!

I'm more trying to figure out if facebook penalises your page based on low engagement.

So if I spend time adding more engaged people to my page, whether they will be less likely to see my stuff because the average engagement is brought down by the current audience.
