Writing a link on top of a photo in Instagram, a good idea?

Honestly, I'm not the most experienced Instagram user. I am working with someone who insist that put links to our content on top of the picture. Basically, type the link over the picture.
This seems to me like a terrible idea. Not only does it look less than professional, but if the link is not clickable, what good is it?

Like I said I am not much on Instagram. So, maybe I am wrong. What do you guys think?

Well I wouldn't do it on every picture. but if you have a specific piece of content with a specific goal to get users to a link, why not?

    You can try it out

Put the same link in the bio and tell people in your photo caption to click the link in the bio. Also they will see the link on the picture which kinda might make it more authentic.

    Never know until you try

This idea sucks! But could be one of those ideas that is so stupid, it works!

If you have to put links on your images, at least try to integrate that link in the 'scenery'.

    Photoshop it.

If is clothing, try to insert the link to look like a print.

If is a building, make it look like a graphitty,

    Just give it a try

If the Link is short and is remember-able then yes you can go for it but not on all images.

Why don't you add it as a clickable link in the text and also in the info on the profile of your page.

I don't know what the point of an unclickable link is anyway - if you hover you can link as well - try that instead.

Your colleague doesn't sound like they know what they are doing and you might need to help them get up to speed with best practise on Instagram.

You are in the right mindset, It makes the picture look ugly and unprofessional... but ask yourself, ¿Will i type letter by letter in the address bar a Url i see in a IG pic? i bet your answer is NO... social media is FAST, people doesn't have time to do that.
What you can do is use a Call to Action Caption on ever 3-4 pictures telling the ppl to click the link in your profile Bio.
