What Social Media Page Drives Most Traffic?

Just a quick question for you internet marketing gurus, or for those of you who have a bit of experience in marketing your own businesses.
Which social media platform drives the most traffic to your website? Im obviously going to invest a bit of time and money in advertising my business through each of the main platforms, facebook, twitter, instagram etc. I was just wondering, more out of interest than anything (because as I said, I intend to utilize each platform to its max for my business) which of these social media platforms is responsible for the highest amount of visitors to your website?

There is no "best social network", each niche works better with a different network.

You need to try and see what gives you more results but also check out your competition to see what they use and how they do it.

You need to like the network too, even if you can make some traffic there is no point if you hate working there.

Some people have Pinterest as #1, some other Twitter, some other Tumblr, still, Facebook is one of the most popular.

Try for all other forums then maybe Facebook. You firstly need to make a market and see what works best for you. I would suggest use Facebook and constantly keep updating it, it will generate more traffic also work more on seo based content and then direct it to your website. You can hire people or do it yourself whatever floats your boat.
Invest money on the website make it more interactive. Hold discussions on it to get more traffic. Hope this helps im open for more questions

Hey Sikander. As far as I have learned so far about marketing on pinterest is that some businesses - including my own - tend to lend themselves less to pintrest marketing as opposed to the traditional ones such as facebook or twitter (can er call facebook and twitter traditional yet? I'm gonna do it anyway). Whether or not your business is more or less suited to being marketed and advertised through pinterest is mostly based upon how your product or service lends its self to visual advertising. For example the value of a florist, a wedding planner or a personal trainer's product is all in how they look. So pintrest works extremely well in advertising their services. But say for example you have a SEO business, or a mechanics business, there is no clear way to communicate your service, or the quality of your work through a picture, so pinterest might not work as well for you in this case. However if your business is less visually driven you can still use pinterest to your advantage by cleverly using infographics that might illustrate the benefits of your service. You can always search to see what kind of infographics your competitors might be using to help give you ideas, and if you don't have the skills to create infographics for your own business, you could always pay someone on freelancer.com to do this for you. This way you could incorporate your business name and logo into each one which would have the double effect of increasing your brand awareness and preventing unwarranted re-use of the images from a competitor. Apparently it is also possible to gain some organic traffic for your business through pinterest without paying for its advertising service, regular pins from ordinary users can gain massive traction through regular posts, pins on pinterst also have the potential for massive longevity. Popular pins can still be kept active by re-pins etc for up to two years after their original post date. This is obviously a huge contrast to facebook, twitter and instagram where posts will expire and lose all momentum after a few short days. Anyway I hope this helps you. Best of luck.

Pinterest has a community where if you follow people or their boards a lot will follow you back. Look for boards about your niche market and for people pinning or following those same boards. This will drive targeted people to your follow group. Then when they click on your pins (aimed at your sales funnel or blog) they will see you as an expert and will join your mailing list and likely become buyers...

Hi Nico, thanks for your reply. Thats a very good point about looking at my competition and seeing what works the best for them and using that to help my business. Its always a good starting point to look at what brings other people success to decide what is the best course of action. Its great because I can not only emulate any success they might be having in promoting their business through social media saving me time, money and experimentation, I can also think of easy ways to improve on their tried and trusted ideas and push ahead. Anyway I'm sure you know all this already. Thanks for your help again.

I really like Twitter. Almost every interest can be represented there and you can always reach your whole following.

With Twitter there are a few things to focus on.
    • Don't be annoying and retweet a ton of posts at a time, that plugs up other peoples feeds
    • take 10 solid minutes every day to give shout outs to people.
    • Post every few hours and use a tool like hootsuite to make it easy

Also its by far the easiest place to network with other people in your field, people actually respond on Twitter.

Yes please provide details how to get more genuine followers on Twitter.also I agree Twitter is highly effective in generating comments. Just make sure the tweets are relevant to your business idea and they provide useful information.
You can give shout outs to people on twitter and it'll bring in more followers.
You can also ask others to retweet in order to gather attention.
        Post discussions on Twitter.
Keep the tweets short and interesting.
Every day make sure to allocate some time in which you tweet regarding it.

    Colin,

A better question is: Where do my targeted prospects hang out and how can I best put my offer in front of them?

Getting "the most" traffic for numbers sake is far less important than getting targeted and responsive traffic within your niche that you can engage and pull into your subscriber list.

If you can segment and target your offers on social media . . . fine . . . try it and track your results. Begin on a very small scale with paid advertising and test/track/optimize until you are satisfied you are doing the best you can. But realize that often social media traffic is not a panacea for all your prospecting.

Sometimes it makes more sense to advertise within your niche on authority sites, or with solo ads, or doing joint ventures so you know the prospects are already targeted participants in the niche.

The best to all of you,

    Steve

I agree you should focus more on generating the target market for your business. You can use paid advertisements to generate. It's always helpful to keep a track of what is being generated each day.
Set short term goals for it and focus on those. In order to make money online only traffic will not do it. You would need to cater to the niche market and the right audience.
Affiliate marketing can also be beneficial hence look more in that regard and post on relevant websites where your ad can appear. Because they are already working on the same product as yours.

You need to create Seo based content so you can' generate the right amount of traffic. If the content isn't interesting enough people would not visit your website. Cater to the needs of the market and work accordingly.
Try to allocate certain amount of time each day at which you will post the content that builds up the anticipation in people and they wait for it and hence that creates more traffic. Also post different things repeatedly in order to attract more audience.

    Hi Colin,

I have a question: What type of your business?
Each of social media has its pros and cons. The key here is which of social media fit your business.

Best Social Media Traffic -- ?

No one can answer directly -- Because It's depends on your niches & offer also on your targeting.

For Health & Cooking Best Pinterest. FB is always good but you have to know how to drive. Instagram Always good to drive traffic but conversion is abs for me.

It depends on who you are targeting, what time you are doing so and whether you are using it purely for marketing purposes or if your strategy is to attract website traffic. In terms of marketing, we find that different platforms act for different targets I.e. Facebook is better for targeting the end consumer, whereas twitter is more beneficial for business to business marketing.
The answer is to know your targets, take note of your competitors social strategy and formulate a social media strategy which will gain you the most RELEVANT recognition.

I agree Facebook is best in that regard as the ads generate a lot of target audience and likes for the page. And you can even direct it all to your website through the Facebook page. You can link the website in each post you do and it will create more traffic in that manner. You will have to invest some money on it though

I think that it is a million dollar question.

Before deciding which social media to be active on and promote your business, focus on a solid plan and get to know what exactly do you need from social media for your business?

For example, do you need to build authority, or do you need to build a list of subscribers or even you need just make social signals to improve your website ranking on seo, and so on.

As in my experience, not all social media works better for all niches marketing and you should stick with the one that are more irrelevant to your business topic.

Finally, social media takes time and an investment of your time over a sustained period in order to achieve results.
    Thanks so much

I would say Facebook and Pinterest are the real game changers over here if you are using it to sell your merchandise. Reason because the features offered by these sources support your way of connecting with people in different ways. For example on Pinterest you can put up attractive merchandise from your inventory which you think is an eye catcher and there is always a higher probability that people will get a glimpse of it. For Facebook you can use the live stream feature to connect with your clients which I think is one of the best way to spread the word about your company and drive in more traffic.

    Great question.

And seriously alot of great answers here. I would read through this entire list and copy it (in fact I will) because in 1 post, you just got basic funnel secrets from warriors that have been successful - wow!

ColinB I personally use Facebook as a go to. The reasons are many. For me it's the fact that so many "steps" in IM can all be done with just FB. You can send paid ads of course - but I would not start new with paid FB ads. I would start with Facebook Groups. (There are some really awesome products that will do this on autopilot) and you can just start engaging with people in those groups. You may even be allowed to post offers eventually. But it's a great place to start. Then you can build a Facebook Page that allows you to build your own brand. Then once you have your own Facebook traffic started , you can add some elements that also auto-subscribe people to your email. Email Marketing might still be king, but let me tell you this - I think we can no longer rely on EM as the only marketing machine. We need the social media piece to build engagement and your own tribe. I personally like Facebook as my goto social media tribe building machine. And I haven't even talked about Facebook Live - an amazing video tool to do this even faster and better. And yes, you can post "dark posts" or "free" posts that do reach new people on Facebook without using paid ads. And then there is the amazing RETARGETING piece. You can place a Facebook targeting pixel on every webpage you want including landing pages and sales pages. THEN - you can begin to try some paid ads. I just think this is the most robust path to financial freedom, and also building a team of lifetime BUYERS!

Most of my traffic came from Twitter and it is the best social media platform for me to get traffic. Each time I post a link I get around 600 visitors (10k followers) or less and I continue to build my followers as I go. If you have a new account in Twitter, FB, Intagram, Pinterest and etc. without any groundwork you will not get much traffic. Good luck.

If someone's field of business is photography they might or should get traffic from instagram or pinterest (if they have profiles there) compared to facebook and twitter. However there is general rule to say which field should utilize which social network. It is all about how you market your services and make the best possible use of features offered in that particular social platform.

If you want to drive huge amount of traffic to your website then you need to utilize Pinterest, YouTube,Facebook, twitter, medium, Instagram, but when deciding for a platform you should perform some research about your audience that which platform is utilized by most of your targeted audience. There are a lot of companies who are only using twitter and Facebook to get all of their customers. But to get traffic through the social media networks, you need to engage with the other users. Users engagement increases your visibility in-front of the audience and it also increases the product sales.

Of course, you have to know where your targeted audience spends their time on the internet, from there you can now focus on what social channel you are going to boost your ads in order to gain a lot of traffic from your desired audience. So know first your targeted audience, then take some research where they usually spend their time online and then go with your social media marketing plan.

    Thats all hope it helps.
