If anyone out there wants a little inspiration for branding on Instagram I came across this article which shares some of the worlds largest and most successful companies Instagram accounts.

From Starbucks to Intel and right through to Ikea - it certainly gives some inspiration into social media content that is working and engaging with audiences.

The article above partnered with another article on Entrepreneur makes it fairly clear why businesses should be active on instagram.
  • 500 million monthly users
  • 300+ daily users
  • 95 million photos and vids daily
  • 216,000 photos posted every minute
  • 4.2 billion likes daily
  • 90% of interbrand companies have accounts
  • Self-serve advertising platform
  • Consumers that are proven to respond better to visual info rather than plain text

More great info and a really cool infographic in this article https://www.entrepreneur.com/article/279539

I am a flag flying Insta lover and I absolutely love how much potential this platform has.

Im interested on how youre using it and if youve set up advertising accounts for yourself or clients and the results compared to Facebook.

    Oh yes i agree

    Instagram is a god's gift

    Think about what it is

How would you describe it to a person who just came out of the time machine from 1834?

It's freaking magic Star Trek star wars stuff

    Future is now

I'm really agree with this. Instagram is one of the most popular social networks with such a great presence of daily users, engagements on posts, and advertising platform to generate leads from it. I loved Insta network. Thanks for sharing useful tips.

I agree Instagram is the new thing to build your business but you should not forget Snapchat also most of the brand and traffic is diverting towards it.

I see your point however I don't think every business suits snapchat and it's probably a way off being as popular as Facebook and Instagram.

I am noticing there is a massive trend towards including it as a major social media stream though.

      Thanks for your comment.

Statistics is nice, but not every business could be promoted by means of instagram because of specific targeted audience

  • The growth Instagram has gone through in the past year or so is massive and makes it impossible for business owners to continue ignoring. The majority of Instagram users are still young people but more and more adults are flocking to the network all the time. It still might not be the best place to find seniors but if you're selling to literally anyone else, it's time to start thinking about Instagram.

I say, and then I go guiltily update my own Instagram because I realize it's been almost a month. Uh oh!

Well Facebook and Instagram are really good for attractive traffic to your website via posting photos and videos over there.

Totally agree and they're great for eCommerce too.

I actually have noticed quite a few shops and retailers are really ramping up their Instagram presence and i have a colleague who only uses Instagram to sell handbags. Pretty amazing platform for business.

    1. Use The Right Hashtags

Your goal on Instagram is to engage your current audience while also growing your following. Posting new, interesting and engaging photos will satisfy the first requirement but to begin growing you'll find hashtagging your photos to be extremely important. Hashtagging your photos makes it easy for people to find your photos that are searching for those specific terms.

    2.Use The Right Filters

Keyword hashtags aren’t the only thing you should pay attention to. The Instagram community respond to certain photo filters more favorably than others. Using these preferred filters can have an impact on your engagement.

Here are the 10 current most popular filters on Instagram according to Populagram:

    Normal (No Filter)
    Valencia
    Earlybird
    X-Pro II
    Amaro
    Rise
    Hudson
    Lo-fi
    Hefe
    Sierra
TrackMaven recently did a study on Instagram accounts to see how filters affected engagement and found that Mayfair, no filter and Inkwell drove the most interaction.

    3. Post On The Right Days And Time

Beyond adding the appropriate hashtags and using the best filters, you should also be considering the timing of your posts.

A targeted approach is to analyze what has and has not worked for you in the past. By visiting IconoSquare’s optimization section, you can get a detailed analysis of your posting history vs. engagement. This report will also highlight the best times of the day and days of the week to post.

The dark circles indicates when you usually post media. The light gray circles shows when your community has been interacting. The biggest light gray circles represent the best times for you to post.

    4. Steal Your Competitors Followers

One of the best ways to find and attract new following is by seeking out your closest competitors' Instagram accounts and engaging with their audience. These people have already shown some level of interest in the products you carry simply by following your competitors' account.

So how do you effectively steal your competitors' followers?

You can steal your closest competitors' followers by engaging with them. There are several ways to engage with Instagram users, and predictably, the more work you put in, the more followers and return engagement you’ll get out of it.

The three types of engagement on Instagram are:

    Follow a user
    Like a photo
    Comment on a photo

    5.Sponsored Posts And Product Reviews

All this optimized posting to your account is great but if you really want to make an impact, you need to post to other, larger accounts in your niche, exposing your brand to a wider audience.
