Is twitter worth the effort?

So, now with more context....
I have a home made software that automate a lot of tasks related with twitter, from finding content to share to send pms and mentions. It also find people to follow and unfollow. It also publishes content to facebook.
My question is: is anybody using twitter as a main source of traffic to promote affiliate products?
I would like to offer for free this software, which is a saas software and you don't need to install anything, to someone doing serious business with twitter.

If worth, i want to keep developing new features in that software but i can only concentrate on development because is what i do.

So my other question is anybody using twitter for marketing and misses any automation not currently present in available solution?

    I think that marketing is a complex and you should not be concentrated on some marketing types as core ones. Just use twitter as part of your marketing strategy. You can reward users for following you on Twitter. For example orders from twitter are being rewarded with discounts.
