Facebook ads reach to western countries not very successful. Please help!

Hi Warriors,

First time poster here, I've been running facebook ads for my shop page for just over a week and have seen great success in getting likes and engagement with 3rd world countries such as India, Philippines and Brazil.

I had targeted USA, Australia, Canada, UK, France and Germany as well.

I then just removed the 3rd world countries and just targeted the USA and Canada. I've received a few likes here and there from these countries but not to the degree I'd like.

I have not had much luck in growing the likes and engagement with these more developed countries still.

My posts are mainly memes and videos and are pretty funny and a few have been decently viral.

I've targeted both male and female, set a specific age range and included many interests to narrow the audience further.

Please help I need to continue to grow my audience and potential customers in the USA, Australia, Canada and UK especially.

I'm all ears thanks guys!

I think your problem is that you are working with too wide segmentation, you need to narrow it down, add more interests, and add more geographical segmentation, instead of segmentation a whole country, try to segment specific cities or states.

You should also think about changing your age segmentation, if your niche is memes and that kind of things, it may not be a good idea to target old people, in fact I wouldnt target anyone above 35 for that niche.

Maybe you should use facebook audience insight to build a good segmentation, that tool will not only help you to build a solid segmentation, it will also give you some good information on your audience and how to engage with them. And talking about engagement, thats something you should also be thinking about, you need to use the audience you already have for enlarging your likes, and that is done through shares and calls to actions.

You should give us a few more details about what are you doing, the kind of content you are using, and stuff like that, so we can have a better understanding of your page and your current situation.

      Thanks Veritas123.

I'm building an audience for my dog fitness specific product niche on shopify. I have been posting 5 times a day with 3 hr gaps. Mainly dog memes, a couple of live videos atm, couple of relevant article links from other websites, a milestone post with thanks and promoting the page in general.

I've been liking people's shares of my posts and replying to their comments or friend tags.

Been targeting USA and Canada, men and women, 13-38 years old. Interests in animals, pets, dogs, fitness and well being, animal rescue, positivity, man's best friend etc.

I've included Wal-Mart, Target etc as they had good affinity according to audience insight.

      Thanks so much again.

Cheers Joseph PNC and Minkah for your input.

What do you mean by segment? Audience characteristics?

What segment would you suggest me to adjust to?

I haven't touched Google yet. There's so much noise out there I'm flustered as to which way to go. What would be your suggestions toward starting on Google which will help me yield better results? SEO, adwords etc?

This is all very new to me as I'm looking to get into it more seriously.

Once again appreciate all your efforts.

thanks Dungpham, so what you're saying is that the more I spend per day the better my visibility as it's a higher bid than $1 a day? So facebook puts my ad in a queue for that target niche and ranks by "bid" ad price? Thanks.

Thanks mieto1969, what's the most logical and efficient way of split testing? maybe set the ad for 4 days and have first 2 days targeting ages of 13 - 23 and then last 2 days target ages 24-34? Is that the idea? cheers!
