Pintrest - is it worth me bothering to learn my way around this?

Ok, so I admit.I am a late adopter to this technology. I have downloaded PinInterst this morning - what are the key benefits, uses and downsides vs using other social media?

Should I be bothering at all with this - it seems like it's not really as popular as some of the other platforms out there.

Or is there something that is better than Pintrest?

I'm looking to save a whole bunch of ideas for products I would like to promote in the future, so I have been told this would be a good app to use... clearly I am out of my depth.

All help is very welcome.

Pinterest, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, all absolutely worth learning. Ezra Firestone does AMAZING things with Pinterest alone, definitely want to check his stuff out!

Depends what products you want to promote.

Pinterest demographics is one of the greatest available online. Mostly US mid 30s females, with a lot of disposable income to spend.

Also, the life of a Pinterest post (a pin) can be up to a few weeks. Which means if one of your pins goes viral today, it can generate traffic for many days to come.

I think is one of the best social media available.

Well I know today with a quick glance that I'm getting repins from pins I made 1-2+ years ago. I'm sure if I had been active on it earlier that I would be getting much older pins. Pinterest can give your efforts longevity & it isn't minutes like Twitter, 1-2 days like Facebook but potentially years if your pin is popular.

Yes it is worth using, but like anything it takes time to get some benefits from it.

The good thing with Pinterest is if you keep posting quality pins with links to your website you will get lots of external links. The way I look at it the more the better. The more you can put yourself out there the better you will be in the long run. So yes take advantage of Pinterest and just know it will take some time and work to really see the benefits.

I love Pinterest. It is seriously simple to use once you get your head around it.

Start with creating some boards, which are almost like photo albums. So make a board for each category of images.

Then when you see something you like online you pin it to your boards. Or you can repin from Pinterest to your boards.

Have you downloaded the Pin It Button to your browser? I found that very helpful, so then you don't even have to log into Pinterest when you are browsing.

When you see something nice you just click your pin it button and a window comes up asking what image you want to pin and to which board. Quick, easy and painless.

You can also pin Youtube videos which is even more nifty, so if you see videos showing how to make cool products you can also pin those!

I have read from multiple sources that Pinterest has a much higher buyer interaction that any of the other social media site. By that I mean people are far more likely to leave Pinterest and purchase something than leave from the other sites to make a purchase. So the bottom line is yes!

Isn't that interesting, Facebook and INstagram seem to get all the attention and Pintrest is just its own little island doing its own thing.

I like the idea of the backlinks and the longevity of the pins working for everyone, that I wasn't really aware of.

The target market of middle age women could be a good market for a few products I market so I'm sure it's worth getting my head around it.

      Thanks for sharing everyone.

Same here. I had the Pinterest app for like 2 years and never used it so I'm late to Pinterest also but have seen plenty of videos and have some WSO's on it and it's worth using to me.

    It depends on your niche

    Things like fashion or art.

Think anything that is image rich.

    Hope this helps

I love Pinterest. I think it really depends on your niche. They have 110 million active monthly users so there is plenty of room to grab some of the free traffic. If your site is visually appealing then it should help. People click on images. They click on your board and your pins because they are interested in your subject. So they should be free, targeted traffic. My Girlfriend works in smaller niches , but visual stuff because she is talented at digital art, so Pinterest and Instagram are no brainers for her. Wish you success no matter what social media platform(s) you use. It can be popular in some niches and often cheaper than Facebook or Twitter. Best of luck

Pinterest is worth using it. With over 110 Million users it has enough to offer. Most users are female and like to pin products to their boards. If you have a product that is appealing to a female audience, go for it. Pinterest is used for inspiration, mood boards and shopping ideas.

    Pinterest can be very powerful.

It has become a powerful search engine as well.
The key to success is posting good images and links to good content

My pins have an average of over 800,000 viewers per month and growing.

The best advice is to use the search function to find tips on how to use and market on Pinterest
