What to make sure of before you hit 'post'

There's so much competition in all social media spaces these days that it's important that you don't get caught in a trap of just getting average content out there just to fill a space. There's lots of info in this forum about how you should have a strategy around your social media and the best ways to keep your audience happy.

I learnt a good lesson some time ago which some people who are new to content marketing might find useful. It was a list of questions to' ask yourself before you click post.

If you're in the moment and posting about something you're passionate about then I don't think this list will be relevant to you. This is for the people who are scratching around trying to find content and about to fall into the trap of thinking that posting ANYTHING is better than NOTHING (its' not).

Here are the questions I always ask before I post:

Have I picked the right time?
If you've done any analysis around social media you'll know exactly when your viewers are online. If you're posting outside of this, you'd need a really good reason as you're damaging your potential reach and missing an opportunity to connect. Only schedule posts within the times that have the highest traffic for your niche.

Does this post add value to my market?
By that I mean does it make them smile? Is it useful? Is it informative? Does it provide them with an opportunity to buy? Sharing videos of cats falling over might well tickle your fancy, but will your audience get anything out of that?

Is this post shareable?
We're all looking to create shareable content which gives us a high engagement and this point is relevant for all platforms. Will anyone be encouraged to share your post? For this it needs to stand out, make someone laugh, be relevant and most of all accurate. I guarantee that writing a Facebook post which is full of errors won't get one single share, and nor would it deserve it!

They're just a few things that I make sure of when I know I'm scraping the bottom of the content barrel; if the answer to any of those is no, in my opinion its better not to post at all.

Does this post have a CTA?
Give the audience clear instructions on what you want them to do next.

Does this post help with my social media strategy?
If your social media strategy is to build a light-hearted and carefree brand, does it support that? If it's to make sales or get sign-ups; does it support that??

    Cheers Ads.

An enlightening answer. The one point that particularly caught my eye was 'Have I picked the right time?' Timing can often make or break your game!

    Cheers
