How much time do you tweet per day?

Before starting you must understand that in this online marketing there are no truths, only opinions and experiences. Although it is a point that repeats frequently I never get tire of saying it, because otherwise someone could take these tips and apply them to the letter without using the head and thinking correctly. Each person, theme, country, context, etc. Is different so you have to take these aspects into account when tweeting.

If we take some statistics from Twitter we will quickly see that there is a correlation between a lot of tweet and a high number of followers. Its almost common sense. The more visibility you achieve through appearances on the timeline of your followers, the more likely you are to get a retuit, response, favorite or whatever it gives you access to new followers.

Some will now think: But is not quality more important than quantity? Lets see. Of course it matters but it is something that I will take for granted in this entry. So we will analyze about what is the amount of tweets per day and the results that can be achieved thanks to it. What is clear is if you combine quantity and quality you will always achieve better results.

Things that help you have visibility when tweeting without being tiring
I have been on Twitter for almost 6 years now and have launched more than 14K tweets. They are more than 9 tweets a day and even taking that into account, I still consider that I am not a user too active compared to others. Everything is relative. My data is as good or bad as anyones. Without statistics like the ones I mentioned above we can not draw any kind of conclusion from it.

Twitting in different time slots: If you have a wide and big audience, the most probably thing is that your followers came from different times zones, thats something you need to take into account when tweeting.
Change the title if you share the same content: when you launch several tweets a day (or re-launch an old entry) sharing eg the post you have recently taken, it may make sense to vary the title a little. It would always leave a margin of 3-4 hours between each new update. Thus, you avoid duplicating and arriving more than once at the same user.
Add photos to your tweets: adding photos to your tweets increases the retuits number. With this surely I do not tell you anything new. Visual content along with text creates variety that is pleasing to your followers because it allows you to process information visually.
Never directly promote content: repeat these words with me. I will never promote a new post on my blog with direct messages or with the help of automated bots. It is the worst way to promote your blog, website or portal because it is pure spam.
Tweet on average every 30 minutes is not an exaggerated amount. If you calculate the number per day you get about 48 tweets. If you see the figure in isolation may seem a lot but if you publish dosed and planned you get visibility without being tiring. Thats all the secret ...

What do you think about this advices? What is the frequency you keep on your tweets?

I think you have a good schedule right now. I would say around 10 tweets a day is an acceptable amount.

It's all about finding that sweet spot - you don't want to overwhelm your followers, but you realize that not everyone will see each tweet.

I might actually follow this advice. Right now I have three different twitter accounts. 1 for play, 1 for personal, and 1 for work, and I've been using TweetDeck to run them all. Problem is I only access TweetDeck once a week for my personal and work one, and queue of 1 tweet a day for around 5pm, and that's usually about it.

But if 10 tweets a day work, I might do that, and do more than schedule tweets in advance too. Maybe even schedule retweets to add to my count and make it look like I'm reaching my target.

    Thaks for the advice!

I usually tweet 6-8 times per day and maybe half that on the weekends.

  • As a social media manager at my office, I manage their twitter handle to tweet at-least 5 times a day.
I keep it in mind that not everyone sees every tweet, sometime I do get retweets. Time of tweet is of the essence, tweeting at about 10am locally ususally results in more coverage than in the afternoon. However, during night time, from 8pm onwards until 12pm the amount of users online rises enormously which definitely helps.

I think I'm going to try your advice for at least 3 months and see if it's effective. Right now, I usually tweet 11-13x a day. Depending on what's trending and the need to tweet about a certain product or promotion. Thanks for the insight, btw.

  • I tweet roughly the same amount (6-8 times a day). I found that to be the "sweet spot" between tweeting too much and not often enough. It actually took me a few weeks of testing to figure out the best times.

Regarding content, I found that I get the best response when I engage more. When I like, retweet or reply, it gets more attention.

With new blog posts, I do promote directly but I make sure that's not the only thing I tweet that day. I make an effort to share or retweet things that i think my followers may like. I make it a point to remember that I'm not tweeting for myself or my business, I am tweeting for my customers. And if they like what I put out there, they will make their way to me without me having to chase them.
