promote site or FB page

assuming you have a lead page and you have a Facebook page and your plan is to build an email list, would you spend time generating Facebook likes and using your Facebook page to drive traffic to your lead page OR would you just promote your site (on FB) to get opt ins.

Facebook does give you the option to either promote your page or promote your website and I'm wondering what the test results were if you have tried both approaches. thanks

    Track everything and do what works best. Sending traffic to my optins outside FB is what works better for me.

    Advertise unpublished posts and drive the clicks to a landing page / funnel.

    You don't want to advertise published posts because you want to test copy and images and you will have multiple ads and you don't want them all shown on your page.
