Facebook Video Metrics

Hey,

Quick question for you all. Wondering why do Facebook count an auto-playing video as A video view after 3 seconds?

They then go on to count these views as "engagement" in the advertising metrics for a boosted post or an ad.

Is this not misleading? They don't count these 3 second views as engagement in the "posts" tab of insights ....

Or have i taken this all up wrong?

Thanks,

Shane

Probably so that they can show that you got those 3 seconds of attention. Knowing that there's lots of attention can get people to buy more ads so they can make more money selling ads.

During the video plugin launch, they stated that they would use 3 Seconds timeframe to count as a paid video advert so i would say 3 seconds could count as a view for a Facebook Video.

I think counting 3 seconds as a video view, when you auto-play videos on people's feeds and then saying that is engagement is pretty misleading?

I was kinda hoping there'd be a logical reason behind it, seems not!

Curious that they don't count it as engagement on the page post metric, so does it count towards you page likers having engaged with you ... or not?
