WTH... I Make a YT Video that Gets 1 Million Views and This is the Amount of Money I Make ??

I thought this was interesting...
Average of 1 million views (based on number of high profile YTers) with a typical ad medium like Adsense is about $1,000. That's based on CPM ( cost per thousand impressions) and then splitting revenue of nearly 50% sharing with Goog .

That's definitely not a high rate of return for that many views.

Of course there are more lucrative ad mediums to use here other than adsense.
There can be things like merchandise, books, affiliate products. And also apps and music..

Any experiences here or comments about this ??

YouTube is useful as part of a strategy. Not as a sole source of revenue no matter how popular you may become on YouTube.

You can make videos on YouTube but if you think for a second that this is a long term strategy that will stay ever green, you are wrong. YouTube has been deleting channels left and right especially for marketers who are in the make money online niche.

If only you could buy a million views for $1,000...

Yea it's not a lot, but people on youtube make the majority of their money from sponsorship's.

Monetizing your videos with affiliate products or building your list could have resulted in more return on investment.

The $1000 is just part of the equation. Did Youtube also give the 1 million views or did the video creator send his/her own views to the video?

Did the 1 million views generate another 500,000 views for other videos and build subscribers that generate views for all future videos created?

    This isn't a simple black/white issue.

Exactly the opposite. Seems every new Google "beast" has made it harder for SEO wannabes to get any traction.
