What do you think about Twitter's expanding video-centered strategy?

With this strategy, Twitter is identifying itself more towards a TV streaming platform. Personally, as a millennial and enjoying watching streaming videos of live events, I can see the potential of pulling in users and boosting traffic for this platform by expanding its video content coverage. However, generating ads revenue is somehow unclear. As Twitter is trying to become a TV streaming company, the advertising strategy should be no longer the same as a social network company. As a social network platform, it generally get free user generated content and sell ads related to that. TV streaming platform, however, needs to pay for content from providers and then sell ads around it. The pain point is that getting content is hard and expensive, and people are concerning Twitter even doesn't have the financial means to compete in this crowded market of TV streaming service with other players like Facebook and YouTube.

How do you think? Would like to hear your thoughts!

Twitter is focusing on video because video is what everyone wants or at least the majority will do and Twitter knows it will get alot more traffic if they use it.

Right now I think they are trying to figure things out and how theie users respond, interact and engage with the videos.

They will struggle to keep up with facebook and youtube because they already have a huge following. Facebook is trying to rival youtube and is not far off from what I hear so twitter will struggle.

In regards to advertising, like the videos, twitter is testing to see what works and how people respond/react and go with what gets the best result.

It will be interesting to see how this one evolves.
