Totally free then it can take you a lot of time unless you get super lucky anyhow. Also when promoting things on groups you need to make sure that you are not on those groups only to promote stuffs if that is the case then you wont be able to yield anything.

You have to spend some time over those groups, make other believe that you are a knowledgeable person in that particular niche. So that they can trust you in future, After you gain some influence try pushing some offers and if you hit some success or not.

If your links are getting spammed by Facebook directly then use a landing page.
