Do Advertisers Need to Start Paying More Attention to Reddit?

This interesting Marketing Land article on how Reddit is changing is well worth a full read.

Reddit used to be a scary, inhospitable place for brands, but is that changing? It got a complete overhaul last year and has started to offer new options to advertisers too.

Reddit is a tech-savvy environment and trolls lurk in its darker corners, but according to Zachary Burt, President of Code for Cash, there are ways to use the platform effectively without the negative backlash.
"The major issue is that if we leave comments enabled, people occasionally troll."

"We solved the problem by disabling comments on our ads. We found that the best ads are like text posts; sometimes instead of linking to our job application pages, offsite, we link to another Reddit thread where the applicants can enjoy authentic discussion with their peers, and then decide to apply."

Targeting niche communities

Heather Cooan the CEO of HDC Digital says
"I tend to get a lot of clients that are in the industrial and technical verticals, and I have found that Reddit is a place where their target audience - engineers and IT professionals - hang out,"

"The key is the offer. These folks are very sensitive about what information they are willing to give," said Cooan, "For example, they are not going to give their information to gain access to a whitepaper, but they will for a schematic."
The thing is: After the redesign, Reddit reports big engagement gains on what's a new and friendlier site, but has that converted to users engaging with advertising? Duane Brown is the founder of Take Some Risks Inc says:

"Could be our targeting, but we didn't see a huge jump for our ads. The new site is great, and people on the team use it personally. People can still use the old site and revert back, so it's hard to know how many people are really using the new site versus the old site."
The language used here is hardly going to get you scrambling to advertise on Reddit. The fact remains, however, that they've added some great options for targeting niches. With some thought, that might work well for some advertisers.

My question to you guys is this: Is Reddit being overlooked unwisely? The platform has over 330 Million active monthly users. That's more than Pinterest (300 Million),Twitter (139 Million) and Snapchat (301 Million). Isn't that degree of exposure worth making a well-targeted effort for?

  • Hi,
Few other reasons to use Reddit are:
    1. Reddit is getting more popular
    2. Niche community is like a Goldmine
    3. Easy to manage advertisements

You will never know if it is worth it until you decide to take a risk. Reddit can be the only platform you need right now. With its million users overpowering Pinterest, Snapchat, and Twitter, there's a 60/40 chance that you will succeed. Keep on taking risks. After all, you cannot be successful without some failures.

According to me , A digital marketer must explore reddit. It has amazing and targeted audience. Also as digital marketer you should establish an engaging audience over Twitter.

Advertising on Reddit is totally safe, as well as incredibly easy. Unlike all the other platforms and social networks, where you have to spend countless hours trying to address your target audience, on Reddit, it can be found inside the appropriate subreddits. What you need to keep in mind is that Reddit ads function on a CPM basis.

Reddit is a good place to get traffic as long as you don't violate some regulations, then you should be fine.

Reddit is a gold mine. There are already guides about it for years. For example, RedditGuru.

Getting exposure in front of a targeted audience is like investing in a goldmine. If Reddit offers it after the new design, it is worth to take the risk. Reddit users are very active and can get a ton of replies for the information we shared. Chances of getting negative replies are also very high.

Any other method to create an email account for free with GoDaddy? I have a few domain names registered through GoDaddy and now I need to pay extra for their professional email service. I used to have free email ids provided by them for each domain name purchased through them. Any thoughts on it?
GoDaddy seems not giving free email credits any more. But you can get free email forwards with GoDaddy domain name.

Setup Free Email Accounts With GoDaddy Domain Name

You need to use third party app to create a free email alias. It will work for your case.

Reddit has grown faster than any other Social Platform including Instagram. Definitely, advertisers should pay attention to Reddit.
