What's the biggest challenge or frustration you're having with Social Media Marketing right now?

So, I'd like to know ... where is your biggest bottleneck when you use social media marketing?

  • Creating Content?
  • Building a list virally?
  • Creating Buzz?
  • Managing your time and productivity?
  • Your mindset?
  • Something else?

I have my own ideas on what is holding people back from excelling in leveraging Social Media Marketing to advance their own online business, and I am learning to understand my own challenges and how to overcome them, but I'd like to hear from YOU.
I think this way we can learn from each other.

Perhaps you you have overcome a challenge in Social Media marketing. You can share that too, if you like.

Cheers,
Yogi

Social site marketing is not for forcing offers down peoples throat and spamming the networks. These sites are best used to build relationships with people to help in the future or to JV with at some stage and not for spam.

I get really pissed when people spam these site.

I love using Social Media for marketing. I provide information and invite people to free webinars. Having over 100,000 people between Twitter/Facebook, I would say one of my frustrations is getting too many Chat Messages on Facebook. I could turn them off but I do get lots of leads and sales from Chat.

You're right, it should be all about adding value and building relationships, but if someone is addressing a need and offers a solution in the form of recommendations, then I think it is appropriate.

For me, time is the biggest problem.

I don't like using automated software, so finding the time to post on social networks on a regular basis doesn't factor into my plans too much.

      Yes, Delta223,
Time Management and Productivity is an inportant issue in any internet marketing area, even more so with Social Media, because of the volume of connections and messages, which can multiply.
Prioritization and effective ToDo Lists and planning as well as focused goals.

Also, if you can streamline repetitive tasks, that can potentially boost your productivity significantly.

Here is a neat piece of software that can automate virtually any repetitive task on your computer WinAutomation - Windows Automation Software & Macro Recorder - Windows Scripting - Automate and Schedule Windows tasks
If you take advantage of the 30 day free trial you have a month to automate you most common tasks, for example twitter updates, logging into your regular forums, filling out forms etc.

      Cheers,
      Yogi

I guess my biggest problem would be not having a Facebook account. And no, I'm not joking. I can't bring myself to do it.

Measurement and managing expectations are big ones. Social media success is measured a lot differently than traditional marketing campaigns.

      My biggest challenge?

Being a full blown introvert. Don't get me wrong. I'm not a cranky introvert by any means but, becoming social out of the box petrifies me to no end. Some days I can do it; Most days I can't.

Many people suffer from wanting to

    1. Generate more targetted traffic
    2. Encouraging visitors to engage
    3. Maximising conversions

I think are the 3 biggest problems, and one way round it is producing good content i.e. articles, pdfs, ppts, videos that help to demonstrte and showcase your skills, talent and expertise but also serves to qualify your target audience and encourage them to want your freebie available on your site.

Document sharing sites like slideshare, docstoc and scribd are excellent for this.

However, ensure the "freebie" further qualifies their need or "disqualifies" them...

..you dont want time wasters sucking your time and "interrupting your happiness"

    Hope that makes sense.
