Is finding customers on social media difficult?

Hey guys I have a few quick questions about finding customers on social media and i'll post my thoughts on each.

Firstly what do you all think of finding customers on social media by using tools like search.twitter.com and developing relationships with them?

After watching a few of @garryvee, twitter.com/garyvee talks I tried to find customers on social media by answering questions. I find it's actually working. I think this is going to be a big part of marketing in the future that a lot of businesses aren't leveraging.

Also do you find it valuable to build relationships like this?

Yup, at the start I just gave people the answers they were looking for, no selling and gradually built up a relationship with them, seems to be paying off so far.

And finally how difficult do you find it to find pockets of people interested in your product on SM?

This is difficult, I can find some of them on twitter with the search, google search and fb search. I find it takes a lot of time to find the pocket niches on various forums and people that said they were into the niche a week + ago on twitter tho.

What's your opinion on this type of marketing? Id love to get your tips and tricks on this method too.

CPA CPL work very well on twitter
CPS sales are hard to get , make sure the niche your twitter account is in matches up with your offer,

I.E - @healthsource - email submit for coupon for health supplement
building relationships is hard and time consuming, post relevant information for your followers and that will build credibility

Interesting Fraser thanks, I'd be interested to hear what you think of the Lead generation possibilities on twitter,

Say you had an ecommerce store that sold hoodies as an affiliate,

How would you guys rank a lead that said "I need to buy a hoodie today" on twitter?

      Thanks :-) .

when i say lead generation i am talking about using a affiliate program that has offers like fan quiz's or email submits, u get paid .50-.70 cents everytime someone fills it out , blast that out on twitter use incentives , say like we are giving away free tshirts for lucky fans that fill out this quiz/offer, great conversions all day long with this method. and if you are looking for a product to automate your twitter tasks look at tweetattacks ... its the best by far

if you have a eCommerce site trying to get sales on twitter i think thats a long shot unless you use tweetattacks to find people talking about buying whatever your product is and then you could mention them with your product
        hope this helps
look for a guy on here named @whosthatguru he will walk you through tweetattacks and beable to give you a $30 discount on it

Thanks for the info mate !

    I've never tried it.

It doesn't appeal at all, though.

I do sell products (mostly from ClickBank) whose sales depend on relationship building, but I prefer to build those relationships with people whom I "met" because they were already looking for information/products in the niche.

I think of marketing as being about finding out what people are already looking for, and then being the person who supplies it to them.

I really wouldn't want to have to build online relationships with people just hoping in future to be able to persuade a proportion of them to become interested in whatever it is I'm promoting, without their originally effectively having said to me "I'm potentially interested in whatever it is you're promoting". That makes very little sense to me. It's not as if there's any shortage of far easier potential customers than that, after all.

I've never tried it and wouldn't really want to. No offense to anyone who might decide to try it this way, but I think I might feel pretty "sleazy" about it, to be honest.

"I'm actually selling information-products about x/y/z/ subjects but I'm not going to tell you anything about that until I've got to know you well enough for you to be willing to listen to whatever I have to say about x/y/z and meanwhile I'll chat with you about whatever interests you, just to gain your confidence?" Thanks, but no thanks. It lends altogether new meaning to the phrase "bait and switch", doesn't it?! :p

For myself, words like "unappealing", "unpalatable" and "unnecessary" (thankfully) are really the ones that come pretty strongly to mind; sorry.

Thanks Fraser But it's only a 20 dollar discount, lol not 30.

Either way its still a discount though. haha

And germc, it depends on a lot of things.. Like Fraser said, CPA offers work really great on there. You can also promote youtube videos, affiliate products, your own websites, ebay auctions, literally ANY URL you want.

As for your question about how we would "rank a lead" for those terms, I won't lie.. not really sure what you meant there. lol

But with that being said, YOU are the one who is responsible for setting everything up. The software is amazing, but its only as good as the person using it.

As for finding the right people to target, there are a couple of ways to do this. You can scrape the followers of a competitor's account and generate your messages to them, you can follow that competitor's followers and then send direct messages to them once they are following you back, I mean the list of features goes on & on.

I use Get Twitter Followers | Directory & Location Tools - You can go there, type in your niche or keyword and it will show you the top twitter accounts for that keyword/niche.

If you ever decide to buy, feel free to check out my classified thread. Plenty of buyer reviews in there too. Although keep in mind, I'm just an affiliate. I did not create the software - I just created the video tutorial.

I've had it for about 2 years. Spent like 7 months experimenting with the software, figuring everything out. Read the entire users manual, went through thousands of accounts.. But I also didn't have anyone or any tutorials to teach me how to use it. Thats what made me think to create one in the first place.. lol

But anyway, you can check out my thread in my signature to see buyer reviews of my tutorial, OR you can check out the official WSO by the creator at:

    http://www.warriorforum.com/warrior-...followers.html

Also, feel free to contact me on Skype if you have any questions about anything. Not just you germc, but anyone who reads this that might be interested in the software.

I do this full-time, so my Skype is always on. The mother-in-law is coming over to carve pumpkins so I will be on here for awhile. Not sure what the wife wants to do tonight, but for right now, yeah I'm here. lol

And thanks again for recommending me Fraser, glad to know you like my service that much!

As far as the OP goes, it all comes down to the approach that you use.

Allow me to introduce you to Charles Orlando. A gentleman who wrote a book called "The Problem With Women Is.... Men".

He grew a following on his Facebook page for the book to over 500,000 in 18 months and didn't spend a dime on advertising.

        https://www.facebook.com/theproblemismen

Do you think he had a hard time finding customers for his book on Facebook? No. Why? Because he didn't have to "find" them. They found him because he established himself as an expert in the relationship field and produces content that people, mainly women, want to share with their friends and/or invite their friends to check out. He wasn't out there friending random women in hopes that they would buy eventually. He wasn't out there following random people on Twitter in hopes that they would follow back and buy his book.

He focused on producing killer content for his niche and branded himself as an expert along the way.

This is how you make sales with social media without coming across as a d-bag spammer.

I don’t like this tactic, like Alexa.

My time is too valuable. I charge 0.12 Euros per word for a professional dream translation. I can’t waste my time giving free advice without payment. My direct answer to your problems has a certain price because my advice is psychotherapy.

However, I give many very generous free lessons to whoever may care about studying them.

So, I don’t like this promotional method, and I don’t like the idea of pursuing customers. I prefer to attract them with the knowledge I provide in my articles.

This is why I’m not getting too much traffic from Twitter when I check my website’s statistics… Facebook is far better than Twitter for me. The truth is that I merely post my articles' and Squidoo lenses' links... and nothing else.

I’m not having any success on building relationships anywhere because these relationships are too time consuming and I prefer to spend my time writing something that will attract many readers, or translating dreams.

Wish I could have everything at the same time…

I forgot to mention that I even stopped answering questions at Yahoo Answers and Quora (where you are not directly marketing like you do at Twitter when you start answering people’s questions because these sites are about answering questions to the public) because I was not getting enough traffic from this occupation, and my valuable answer many times was not properly evaluated.

In the end I saw that this story of answering questions is a big waste of time with the hope to have positive results if you are lucky.

Interesting feedback thanks guys, it will be interesting to see how social media will effect Im in the future.

I even stopped answering questions at Yahoo Answers and Quora
I do write some answers occasionally on Quora, I think Q helps with establishing credibility though not necessarily traffic.
