how do you embed youtube video (without it being clickable to youtube?)?

I think marcuslim is right. You can set a lot of variations on controls/full screen, etc. but I don't think you can disable the link back to YouTube.

I would recommend enabling full screen. I see a lot of YouTube videos embedded on websites that do not allow "full screen" so I have to click through to YouTube to watch the video full screen.

Better visitors can maximize if from your site, then they are still at your site when they close the video.

I'd go with onSubie's advice on let your users see the video full screen, so they rather stay on your page at the end.

I don't think you can do that if you embed the video directly from youtube. But you can download the flv file and host it from your server with your own flash player. Search for "JW Player".

Provided that it's your video then it's okay, otherwise you are headed for a world of trouble. You can use syndicated content in the form it has been syndicated, but not re-upload or modify it. That would be theft.

I thought it best to clarify that one, just in case anybody got the wrong idea.

  How is it that you stay on WF? The video will play on WF if you click the play button but when the video is clicked it takes you to youtube.
  Try the jw player, clicking the video will not take you to youtube but there is a link. No way around that.

I think making the youtube video not clickable is against youtube terms. Lets not kill google services, they provide the best to us webmasters, these kind of hacks may prevent video embeds in future..

In IE8 and Chrome I click that video and stay right on this page. I couldn't click away if I wanted to.

Is it possible ?
It is possible to embedd youtube video whille removing the link of YouTube from it by using a custom Video player which should only get the video from YouTube and should play it according to your need. Google "Custom video players for websites", hopefully you will find a solution.

Is it against their TOS?
Yes. It should be clear that It is against the TOS of YouTube.

My thoughts
YouTube is a great service providing great stuff. Whenever we embed a video. The only thing it gets in return is a link on the video which is whenever clicked takes to the YouTube. Would recommend not to remove it.

One way to still comply with their TOS is to have a link underneath the video leading back to the original.

bottom or the title link on top of the video. Takes you
straight to YT.

You can't completely remove link back to youtube source video, though you can always use Jw Player or any other OVP (online video player), that will allow to import youtube videos and embedd it in your customized video player.

If you're using Wordpress:

Download the "Flash Video Player" Wordpress plugin: WordPress › Flash Video Player « WordPress Plugins

Active the plugin.

Enter the following short code wherever you would like the YouTube video to be displayed:

Code:

[flashvideo file=http://youtube.com/watch?v=pShf2VuAu_Q /]

(Obviously, replace the YouTube video link with your own

)

There are many options for the player itself including the ability to hide the controls, autoplay, change the size of videos, etc...

The closest you can get can be seen at the link in my sig. The second video on this page (scroll down, under large red arrows) was created from a simple YouTube embed code. There are a lot of customizable things you can do to YouTube embed codes. Check it out and feel free to ask me any questions. I'll also gladly give you the code to do this if you're interested, but it'll be easier if you see what I'm talking about if you check it out first.

I don't *think* you can make the videos not be clickable back to Youtube (at least not within their TOS).

However, you can significantly customize the embed code making the video fairly "clean" by changing the embed code options, specifically:

- disable show suggested videos when the video finishes
- disable video controls
- hide annotations
- enable modest branding

Here's a tool that will do this for you automatically:

I have just embedded several Youtube videos in Wordpress and I have checked each one. The YT logo is visible once you hover over the video but it is not possible to click through to Youtube. Are you sure it doesn't violate YT's TOS?

Can anyone shed some light on this please? What would be the consequences if it does?
