Does anyone use social media buttons for more exposure to your blog?

I see a lot of social media buttons on blogs. What have been your experiences of gaining more exposure and increasing sales?

Does anyone have any idea what are the best ones these days? Either plug-ins or specific networks.

I'm guessing Facebook and Twitter will be the most popular.

I really like the one at the left hand side of the articles that scrolls down the screen with you, but I've forgot the name.

I don't want to put loads of them on and make it look silly. I'd prefer too just use the best ones.

Having a social media prescence is a great way to to promote your blog. You can reach so many people at much faster rate thanks to social media. You can then send all of those people a message at one time. Its just a really effective way to bring to your website or blog.

I have social media buttons there...I mean why not and I do get some clicks, likes, etc. but nothing ground breaking.

I think to get real social media exposure you need to approach it virally. Run a promotion or contest and give people a reason to share your content. Just saying "Share this cause it's cool" doesn't always cut it unfortunately. People are always looking for what they can get out of it, so give them something!

I use shareaholic and it works great.

I think you should definitely promote your blog with social networks. I think it a must these days to have facebook, twitter, google+, youtube account and have a link to them on your blog.

And also I would put social buttons right bellow the blog post if people don't like the shareaholic plugin.

    Everything is going social

I add all the social sharing websites on my main pages. It really does add up. If you deliver a quality service or information, it's a way for users to thank you or help spread the word about it. Fb, Twitter, Linkedin, Stumbleupon, Google Plus are the ones I focus on with delicious a possible contender. Problem I have with Digg is once the story is old, each new digg won't help as much as the other social sites.

Even 1 "share" or like can spread to hundreds more, so it's worthwhile.

H**L Freaking yea! I use social media buttons on all my sites... Google panda and Google are now ranking sites bases on social media exposure.. The more shares, likes, tweets and plus ones, the better chance of your rankings.

    It's all about visitor interaction....

I like to use Google+, Twitter, Facebook, Digg and StumbleUpon... Get a nice article in StumbleUpon and you'll get more traffic from them than Google..

Best wordpress plugin for social sharing in my opinion is Digg Digg..check it out...
