Yes this is legit. Its an easy way to get all the social icons in one place with just a few lines of codes. The only drawback in my mind is it makes an external call so it may cause some extra load time for your pages. If you are using wordpress then there are plugins for social media buttons.

Twitter and Facebook have widgets that you can paste into your website. Also if you have for example, a WordPress website, there are social media plugins and extensions that you can upload to your website. Very easy.

You can do this easily by using sprites, or you mean adding "like" buttons and such? if it's wordpress your using then there are plenty of plugins out there.

If your website is html then please specify and i will build you the code block.

If you are running wordpress a really terrric lightweight plugin is: Twitter Facebook Social Share

You can add Google+, twitter, facebook, pinterest, stumbleupon and LinkedIn and it gives you different display options.

If using Wordpress, use the Really Simple Facebook Twitter Social Share plug-in.

    It works fantastically for me.

Just another reason I like the Weaver Pro theme for Wordpress.

It has over 60 of these buttons built in so you can add your social sites with a couple of clicks.

You can get the button manually from your Fcebook, Twitter, Google etc accounts. If you wish to get them all at once, you can try free plug ins which programmers are creating. Word Press is offering many of them.

I used both AddThis and ShareThis on my site for a while and found ShareThis out-performed AddThis by a huge degree. It also automatically tracks sharing in Google Analytics.
