YouTube Monetization - How Much Does it Pay?

Hey guys,

I've been searching high and low for an answer, but can't find a reputable one anywhere! I heard that YouTube was paying per view if you monetize your videos with their ads - question is, how much are they paying per view?

I believe that it depends from where the view comes, if it converts or not and from which country it comes, it is not a fixed amount.

I get roughly 1400 views per month and about $10. However, I create videos for my consulting business; not to be rich on YouTube.

YouTube has crap CPC. I get around 500 views per day and my CPC is like around $0.05!

    Barely anything.

You're much better of monetizing your videos with affiliate links.

what is youtube policy on affiliate links?

say you create a web page that has the affiliate link on it, you then show that url in the video (not clickable) and also in your description - are youtube ok with promoting affiliate links?

YouTube are O.K with affiliate links on certain conditions...

Without going into it extensively... provide value on the videos, and they'll leave them up.

If you want some examples just search 'bodybuilding' on YouTube. I swear every second video has a link to a 'build massive biceps' page.

As long as I know, people use Youtube to bring traffic, and not make money from the videos.
They monetize the landing page, not directly from the videos.

And they monetize the landing page and the Youtube's traffic with CPA, CB, use it to build list, etc. Youtube is the goldmine to get free huge traffic.

For IMers I tend to agree with this.

Pretty much. Use a CTA in your videos to direct viewers elsewhere into a sales channel.

It's really not paying per view, it's more like getting a cut of advertising revenue (banners) that are layered on your video. Keep in mind these have to be actions, such as clicking a link or watching a pre-ad before your video even gets credited with earning something.

This is a viable alternative for individuals/channels where all they want to do is make videos, and are mainly doing it to entertain their audience and grow their own following - for perhaps bigger things.

The one thing that is clear about such monetization is that your channel views need to be in the MILLIONS to start earning anywhere near a full time income. That generally lends itself to a viral following not normally associated with niche marketing.

YouTube on it's own isn't worth it IMO. But there is no reason not to combine it with some other revenue streams.

    Desperate and confuse?
just try another monetization, when someone searches for something online, very often a video will come up in one of the top spots in the organic search spots. If this is your video, this is huge because it stands out above the other links. Yes, It's very SEO friendly ..

The reason you won't find much about it is because I've heard some of the popular Youtubers say that they aren't allowed to discuss it, due to the terms of service or whatever. Given the fact that Youtube is owned by Google, I'm sure there are a number of factors involved when it comes to how much money you're paid...the number of subscribers, the channel views, the number of views per video, the kinds of ads displayed on your videos, the conversion rates, and how much the advertisers are willing to spend to have their ads show up on certain people's channels, and so on.

Unless you're getting 100K+ views per video, you won't make decent money.

Unless you already have a huge site that you can drive to your channel...

Try something else as far as "for money" goes.

it's all about having guerilla ad placement

People here have no partnership experience I can tell. For product placement from my management , i get $15-$50 CPM.

However, ,that is only for VALUED partners generating real content.

All the affiliate marketer content that does not retain an audiencent or create exciteme, $2CPM probably

the type of content does actually sway these amounts paid of couse

I know someone who has 75k subscribers and around 1.3 million views and he doesn't make a lot of money at all through youtube. Unless your providing content that you can monetize easily through your own site then you won't be making a lot of money unless your an entertainer and getting booked for appearances etc.

I would not advise directly putting affiliate links in a video description because many people have been banned in the past for that. It is better to send people to a page on your own site where you then attempt to sell them something with your affiliate link.

You will need to encourage them to click through though of course. You will have less chance of getting people to click through twice but you won't get your account banned which is far more important.

It is a hell of a lot easier to get traffic to your YouTube videos than it is to a website.

Judging by those figures you gave there, the person must only have a few videos then. They could be making decent money if they regularly uploaded because they have a good number of subs.

YouTube is a difficult avenue to take. Because of it's low CPM you need to make your content stand out. Now I'm not saying that it's not a viable source of income.

This like all avenues needs a simple recipe. Create compelling content THAT PEOPLE WANT TO SEE will be your first step. There is no point of making something that is going to be only seen by a passing glance. Think of it like this.

You want people to return to the same video because it was that good. After that you CPM count show sky rocket. Double that up by building a list and sending them to your owe affiliate link will make the biggest differnce.

The poblem you might run into is placing an ad on your vid that doesn't fit your vid. Make in coherent all the way around and you should be good.

    Market on my friends!

It doesn't pay well AT ALL. Plain and simple. I mean, even the guys with thousands of thousands of viewers don't get anything worth much. They mostly do it for fun and also the hopes of that it could lead into something else and some just mainly traffic.

If you're looking to it as a source of income, that's not a good idea.

I once made a deal with a Youtube video owner with a view of 22 million on that specific video and a monthly view of 250k uniques. A game niche but the CTR was very low like 16 uniques/day. 1 conversion only.

But I created review video for launching products and made quite few sales. So youtube video works for product promotion.

It really depends on how you put the video together. You can integrate your Adwords to get Adsense money. You can use Annotations to link to other places that are monetized such as a blogger blog or your website. You can link to other videos that are monetized.

You can leave a 20 second at the end of video with a Call to Action where that person can go to take action.

Provide post via social media where you have your monetized link. Or send to squeeze page to get name and email address then after they submit you automatically redirect to that affiliate link. Either way you will have success with all of these methods.

    Good Luck.
