Social Media is HOT!! So What about Niches that just aren't that social?

I get that if you have a site about purple handbags or camping or some other passion. You're bound to get lots of social love with quality content about things people actually want to talk about. But what about those quiet niches that have been so promising for us marketers in the past? Surely we can't expect someone to tweet about the dangers of vaginal mesh or give a facebook shout out about the 3 things you can do now to finally get relief from genital warts... yeesh!

So what's the deal with sites like these? Since it's not likely that people will pin, like or tweet for these hungry but hush hush markets, how do we get the social juice that we need to fuel our google love for these sites? Or do we just go about the usual backlinking, guest blog posting, forum posting, video marketing, etc. etc. etc.?

What steps are you taking to get google love for your not so sociable niches?

I might be wrong but I think you are right, people wouldn't want to do a "shout out" about that, but they would still look up information about it. You should hang around forums based on your market to find out what people talk about there, where they hang out, where they buy products etc. You may even want to look into advertising on those forums or blogs.

This is an excellent idea! Much thanks.

Off Topic Alert: Great sig, also! I always thought the free website with hosting was an excellent idea.

Any other ideas? What are you guys doing for social juice for your embarrassing niches?

However, you could make a killing with these types of markets that are not really familiar with social media because they'll be more eager to share your content to their friends oppose to the IM niche where people know when they share someone get's paid.

Maybe these types of niches would be more suitable for email marketing..

That way you could still offer your subscribers solutions to their problem, but it would be more discrete..

Given the rate social media is growing, there are going to be crowds for every niche you can think of. You just have to put your stuff out there, make sure it's optimized per the site, and someone is going to find it.

If it's not necessarily a niche that someone would go for, then create a screenname that is generic, but fits withing the niche.

I remember when I first started IM, scrolling through all the clickbank merchandise, I saw an ebook for worm farming, and the gravity wasn't that bad.

Here's the thing. Every niche is social. People love talking about their favorite niche, or at least feeling accepted. People don't like being obese, but they like feeling accepted and talking to people about their problems.

Social media is obviously the first place to go when you want to reach the social market, but forums, email marketing and blogs can be just as social. If you don't know which one will work, then try every social outlet you can until you strike gold.

Hi Attraction Marketing, I see where you are coming from. Here are some content ideas (whether for articles or infographic) for your suggested niche that could potentially go viral on social media platforms:

10 Extremely Funny Uses of Condoms
STD: 10 Mind Blowing Facts that You Don't Know

Even ideas that are on a more serious note would work:
10 Precautionary Measures to Consider Before a One Night Stand
An infographic for condoms (origins, average size or best selling flavors for different countries, etc.)

Be creative and try to come up with something that appeal to the masses. You'll definitely think of something.

Interested to see more ideas popping up on this thread too!

This could be a killer, but i dont think people would get the time to google the precautions to take before a One Night stand it happens so fast but then again after doing it they could check the uses of a Condom and the STDs they can get.
