    they might have 1 billion accounts but no way 1 billion users.
    some people have several accounts on facebook..
    specially webmasters.. each of them have several accounts on facebook..

    1. How many of those "users" are fake or doubled up? Among those I know I would say 75% have two accounts. And 50% have 3 or more.

    2. Have you personally or anyone you know responded to a facebook ad? Doesn't matter how many people are there since the vast majority use mobile and facebooks mobile ad offerings are lacking.

    That's isn't to say facebook doesn't have a place in the marketing of nearly every business. But I think people and companies (including large ones) buy into the hype without looking at the ROI.

    Their active user base is much much lower, naturally, and many are duplicates. I have like 8 accounts myself. Some people have hundreds.

    I put the number closer to 300-500million active and real users.

    Fun tip. I also heard that Brazil has the most active users.

      These are not all real people! Many have several accounts. Some people put up profiles for their dog, cat or gaming characters as well. Or just a second account to check the privacy settings of their main account from the outside...
      These are inflated numbers and Mark Zuckerberg should know this...
