At first I found it very unique and interesting...but the more people I followed the more I found myself not really being interested in anything that was being posted. I am a horrible cook and terrible at crafts so that might have a lot to do with it however, lol. I do use it to market some of my sites and think the concept is genius, but to answer the question, yes, I think the users get bored with it.

I haven't used it at all, just taken a quick glance and noted it for possible future use.

Is this website losing its popularity?

I dated a gal that used it for about 2 months and that was it for her. She stated it gets old very fast and most of the other pin boards are not of interest to her. I'll bet others feel the same way.

Only time will tell if this will last. It's not like we don't have enough social media already. We could lose this one and still be okay.

As with a lot of good sites/ideas, they work really well until all those marketers come along and spoilt it for everyone.

I use it for traffic, you don't have to pay much attention to it once you have it set up. The best thing about it is that the search function turns up some interesting stuff which I have found very useful when researching a niche as it allows you to put all your info in one place.

    • Initially I looked at it and decided it was not for me. I don't know anyone who uses it.

I must say a lot of people have pinned my products there, though, which is gratifying. But looking at my 90-day stats, there are no referrals from Pinterest. Saturated, no doubt.

I think Pinterest started based on lies they seeded by posting fake post around in Internet: some saying that it is the most growing site, other saying that it surpasses Google, Bing, Facebook, ... in monthly growth, other says that someone is making a thousand dollar a day spamming Pinterest, others say that is the preferred site for women to make online buys, etc. Then when you use it to post something and then you use the search button to find your own pins they never show up (even if they have a lot of repins) you start to think that maybe this is a place that no way works as it is intended. In addition it is a waste of your time to use it for selling anything from Amazon because they stripe the links to affiliate pages in order to credit the selling to themselves.

In short, don't waste your time trying to use it to sell something because this place as far as I know is not the preferred place for women to buy online as every of those posts say. In addition, don't pay anything for those Pin profits courses by Kaci Kennedy because you'll get only a course on pinning on Pinterest, they never tell you any Pinterest secret, appart they sell you a Bot for, suppossedly build a great income from Pinterest that DOES NOT WORK AT ALL.

My impression was that Pinterest was designed as a digital bulletin boards - you could pin thing and images that you wanted to remember or find again and you could share them with others.

For people who have time to look at endless photos of food and clothing - I guess it works. Sort of the equivalent of hanging out window shopping at the mall?

no way works as it is intended
It does work as intended - just doesn't work as marketers would like it to.

Maybe the take away from this is how easily fad sites can come and go, burning brightly and then fading in brilliance. And, possibly if Facebook weren't so hot right now with fans around the world, Pinterest would dominate. But like Google+, it seems to be more of a niche user's delight rather than a social media darling.

My wife still goes on Pinterest every day after being one of the first users. I think Pinterest has a long lifetime ahead of it because of the critical mass of women that use it.

  • I think if you have a lot of visual content Pinterest would be a great way to direct traffic. Like any medium it's a matter of making a great copy and having compelling visuals to go with it. I think that's the reason why it's so appealing to crafters and DIYer's. And even if you don't have a physical product, you can use it to share infographics, memes, photos, etc. Pinterest, for the most part, is still in its infancy. But I believe it can be a powerful tool once they have more members.

Or at the very least it's a great way place to test your ads first before you pay for it on FB.

I've had one since the beginning. It is great at first, but it's overload of info. I only go now when I'm looking for something specific. I think most of us realized we'll never travel to all those places, or bake all those things or live in a house with a lazy river running through it.

I've NEVER clicked on an ad or even taken an ad seriously that I found there, in fact, I reported them because it's leisure, not a place for ads.

I think there is a mix of people on Pinterest, just like anywhere else... there are folks who love it and spend time there every day and those who could take it or leave it.

I pin my blog posts images to Pinterest and have made some sales as a result... so will continue to use it along with other social media sites like Facebook, Twitter, Google Plus, Twitter, and Instagram, for marketing purposes.

Over time, I think all social media sites lose their shine and people exit. I hear there has been a mass exodus on Facebook, particularly, of the younger crowd.

I completely disagree with anyone who says that Pinterest is not on the rise and here to stay, regardless of the fact that my usage of it waxes and wanes, just as it does with any other social media platform. According to this article, Pinterest is now doing better for sharing business social content than both Twitter and Facebook. Heres the source- ContentLEAD Are the most popular social networks the best ones for small business marketing? - ContentLEAD.
