Google's "Disavow Links Tool". SEO. The Rise Of Social Media

I was reading today from Market Samurai about some of the newest updates from Google regarding it's "Disavow Links Tool".

THE FUTURE OF SEO AND BACKLINKS

There are lots of schools of thought on SEO and Backlinks (always). But Google is really taking concrete steps to turn up the heat on Blackhat, Greyhat, and in some cases White Hat SEO. (The white hatters being innocent victims of the latest slew of Panda and Penguin and now Disavow Links).

Of course we are talking about what would be bad links according to Google. Backlinks from cheap sites, web 2.0 farms, comment spam links, quality of links, etc.

So essentially what Google did today was unleash the public on itself. Perhaps starting a panic in which Google can identify directly by those who start disavowing links. An admission of guilt perhaps? What will Google DO with the information?

Who gets rubbed out with this latest set of data that google obtains from the general public? Anyone can report anything as bad link. Just by disavowing some link you are telling Google that you know according to some standard of their definition what a bad link would be for your website. (spam farms, link juice rings, link wheels, comment spam, etc)

So this could really be devastating over the next few weeks? months? who knows how long? This really changes the nature of links. The days of slamming a new site with backlinks in an overnight blast may be coming to an end.

The Rise Of Social Signals

The new focus in Social Networking "SOCIAL SIGNALS". Things like Google +1, Facebook "Likes", and other such rating systems are sending social signals to the entire web that someone's excellent article is getting liked and +1'd like crazy. And that it must be valid content.

Social Signals are a growing focus of the modern day Search Engine Algorithms. These methods of gathering information in ever more creative ways, and obtaining feedback at higher personal levels than ever before (through the use of Social Networks) are telling Google more about what is current and popular. More popular than any perfectly OnPage SEO'd article with the perfect 3-5% ratio of keyword density and all the SEO details.

It all really comes down to this. You and I are gonna start spending more time on Facebook talking with real people while we witness the decline of some automated SEO systems until different ones replace them for the next game of SEO.
